I'm very slow, mentally. Does this mean I have something wrong with me, or is it just how I am?
Perhaps the only thing wrong with you, would be the feeling that something is wrong with you. Also, don’t underestimate these voices in your head- they can definitely make you slower than you actually are. They keep telling you, how useless you are. Sometimes, you have to just shut them up.What would be great for you is that you find from within, the thing you’d like doing with yourself. That thing (multiple things) will give you the energy to move forward. The world has seen people who have no hands/legs go swimming for olympic so thinking slow is definitely not the biggest problem out there.You could also check if this is just a phase. Perhaps you are going through a bad phase and that is slowing you down. Try and involve yourself into mind-engaging activities like reading, writing. Most certainly, write a journal. It also helps in categorizing pending thoughts in your mind. It removes the clutter from our mind, so when finally we are finally doing something, we give our 100% to it.Begin with speaking to your close friends (those who will understand), your parents or partner. What does it mean being mentally retarded? Rude comments or bad comments about mentally retarded people will not be accepted...its not a laughing matter. Well, my teacher told me that sometimes people become mentally retarded but they're very intelligent though. And I wanna know how do people become mentally retarded or if they were born with it? Because I think I am retarded, I mean, sometimes it takes me a while to get things but sometimes im quick on the go. But most of the time, I am really slow. So I was just wondering.

For a long time of my life (I'm 15 now) I've had a paranoid feeling that everyone thinks I'm mentally retarded or that I actually am retarded. Now the reasons I have made myself to believe this, are as follows: 1.) I'll be in a car with my brother, his fiancee, and my mom; they'll all be talking, but I'll just be staring out of the window. 2.) When I talk to someone in a group, people barely ever respond more than one line after just talking and having fun with others (talking about my family members here) 4.) I look at other people and realize how much different they are from me. Other people laugh constantly, are always talking and I don't do any talking or laughing nearly as much and I'm very quiet. 3.) In my 7th grade year, my history teacher thought I was retarded or slow and always gave me easier tests and didn't call on me in class. Why she thought this, I don't know. I've taken online IQ tests; and of course without cheating by looking up the answers I've always scored at least 120; when I was 10 I scored 94. The thought never came up aggressively for a while until yesterday, at my grandfather's viewings. He unfortunately died last Tuesday. I was sitting alone just watching around and I overheard my brother (19, I look up to him) say "I've noticed seanie (he either said seanie or stevie, my 11 year old cousin. I heard the beginning s and the ending ie; at least that's what I'm telling myself) My mom replied in an interested voice, "I know. I first noticed it when he was 6." I don't think it was my cousin because we didn't know him when he was 6. What do you think? This is bugging be hard and I don't even feel like life is worth living if everyone thinks I'm slow. Stupid is due to lacking common sense, lacking education, carelessness, distraction, lazy thinking, emotional reaction, willful ignorance. A stupid person can be less stupid by working on skills.
