What Does My Name Elbert Mean

What does all those police codes mean?

That is called a phonetic alphabet. In your example, they would be running a license plate that reads 310RT. Many letters sound the same over the radio, so they use the phonetic alphabet to clarify. The actual letters are not standard, there is a military one that uses Alpha Bravo Charlie for ABC, my state uses Adam, Boy, Charles.

You can Google "phonetic alphabet" to see several version of the entire alphabet.

Who is Elbert Einstine?

Did you mean Albert Einstein?

Albert Einstein (March 14, 1879 – April 18, 1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist widely regarded as the greatest scientist of the 20th century. He was the author of the general theory of relativity and made important contributions to the special theory of relativity, quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, and cosmology. He was awarded the 1921 Nobel Prize for Physics for his explanation of the photoelectric effect in 1905 (his "miracle year") and "for his services to Theoretical Physics."

After British solar eclipse expeditions in 1919 confirmed that light rays from distant stars were deflected by the gravity of the sun in the exact amount he predicted in his generalized theory of relativity, Einstein became world-famous, an unusual achievement for a scientist. In his later years, his fame perhaps exceeded that of any other scientist in history. In popular culture, his name has become synonymous with great intelligence and genius.

How did Hawaii get its name/nickname???

there is a whole bunch of theories:

1) Hawa means homeland and i'i stands for small. So, it is like "small homeland"
[Shearer, Benjamin F. and Barbara S. State Names, Seals, Flags and Symbols Greenwood Press, Westport, Connecticut - 1994]
Modern native Hawai'ians came to Hawai'i from Tahiti around 1300. They brought wild pigs and some plants from Tahiti and made Hawai'i their home. So, a theory of Hawa+i'i meaning "small homeland" is very solid. If you think about it, we say "Little Italy about the area in Manhattan where first Italian immigrants used to live.

2) Hawaii Loa is believed to be the first discoverer of Hawaii. That is his name, so it might be the case that we call these islands Hawai'i because of his first name. Loa means "long" or "very". He was a chief of a Polinesian people who came to Hawaii around 400 a.d. from Marqueses.

3) in Hawaiian Dictionary by Pukui and Elbert:
Elsewhere in Polinesia, Hawai'i means "underworld" or "ancestral home" . But in Hawai'i it has no meaning.

4) British explorer Captain James Cook was the first European to discover Hawai'i. He reported its name in the following spelling: Owyhee.
Ok, now this is a little bit out there, but if you translate "O wai" into English, you get a question word like "who? whose? whom?". O wai might have been the beginning of the question "Who are you?"

5) wai means water, ha may stand for "breath" or "spirit", 'i would point at the location. But that does not make any sence.

Nicknames:

1. Sandwich Islands. Captain Cook - the first European to discover Hawaii - named them after his sponsor John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich.

2. Aloha state. Aloha is a form of greeting in Hawaiian. It means hi, good bye, as well as love. The islands are called this way because of the concept of Aloha spirit that become wide known when the islands became a popular touristic destination. Basically, aloha spirit stands for friendliness and hospitality of Native Hawaiians who welcome everybody who comes to Hawaii.
3. Pineapple state. This is one of industries that played an important role in economical development of Hawai'i. You can still find some pineapple plantations there.
