What Happens If You Win Jr Olympics Boxing

Was mike tyson in the olympics?

Mike Tyson was defeated in the 1984 US Olympic trials by Henry Tillman (twice) and so Tyson didn't make the team.

What happens if you win Jr Olympics Boxing?

I just won a gold/not real medal then fought on the U.S.A. boxing team against the Canadian junior Olympic national champion what was called U.S.A. vs. Canada meet trained with all the other boxers that won in the Olympic training center. pretty much had everything paid for including all travel, food, room even given spending money

Is winning an Olympic medal in boxing considered the most prestigious achievement in the sport?

To some, yes. Oscar De La Hoya said his greatest memory of boxing was winning an Olympic gold, while Roy Jones Jr said he would swap all his professional world titles for that Olympic gold he was robbed of in 1988. For all the belts available in professional boxing, there is only one Olympic champion every four years, where all the top fighters compete. Barring robberies, it proves exactly who the #1 guy is. Also, in many countries, especially in the former Eastern Bloc, boxers stay in the amateur code for their whole careers instead of turning pro.Believe me, the amateur game always has and always will be full of talent. Many of the top pros have a wealth of amateur experience, whereas the top amateurs can compete with anyone, amateur or pro, over 3 rounds, and in many cases can easily bridge the gap between amateur and pro.

What is the process to get into Olympics?

It depends on the sport and the country, but it generally goes like this:You win a city-wide championship. You win a region-wide championship. You win or place high in a state/province-wide championship. You win or place high in a national championship.Yay! You got to the Olympics! The stages are obviously much more complex than that! I hope this helps.

Why isn't boxing a school sport?

One problem would be having enough competition to warrant having a boxing program. It's not like basketball, football, or baseball, because every athletic school has those. It's like competitive swimming, ice skating, or hockey in that respect.Another problem would be that it would be an uberboring version of the boxing that people know. It would allow the strengths of the boxing style to dominate, but punchers and counterpunchers couldn't really show their skills. Since they would have the headgear on, “boxers” would be more confident than in a real match and dominate. In High School, athletics, besides keeping jocks in shape and providing psychological esteem boosts, would give athletes a chance to build upon what they learned through taking the next step via college, the amateurs, the job corps(used to take you up to 24 yrs old), or maybe even pro. Still, it would really only help if you had the frame to be a “boxer". Punchers and counterpunchers could work the body(an opponent could just cover that part up easy), but head punches would be largely ineffective. SO, IT WOULD BE ONLY DERIVATIVE BOXING AND ONLY 1/3 COULD REALLY PROGRESS.

U.S Citizenship is needed to Compete in boxing tournaments?

Yo my name is Ricki Marsh, and i am an amateur boxer and have competed and won in Silver gloves nationals, Ringside World Championships, Junior Olympics nationals. At my boxing gym theres a lot of talented boxers who can't compete or advance in these types of tournaments because they are not U.S citizens. I am sure that its the same case in many different boxing gyms nation wide. Like this year in Chicago some of our best boxers couldn't register into the Open division of the Golden Gloves because they were ask to have documentation that shows they are U.S citizens. Last year they didnt do that since since its was the local Golden gloves not the regionals or nationals. This year they did do that and there was way less boxers competing this year because many got rejected. I get what other people say that "Oh they need to be a U.S citizen because if they win nationals they might represent the US internationally thats why its required". This makes me laugh because if the boxers who are really talented and are not U.S citizens were able to compete in Nationals then i am so sure many of the amateur national champions we have today would not have won. What i don't get is why USA Boxing does not let these talented boxers who are not able to compete , participate nation wide. These boxers can bring a good name to boxing and the USA. I have seen many boxers that aren't able to compete nation wide and they make the amateur boxers that can look bad. Why cant they get a chance to show us what they can bring to the ring?

If you could win an Olympic medal for any sport, real or fake, what would it be?

Fake

Who would win in an amateur boxing match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Vasyl Lomachenko? (each in their prime in amateur competition)

Neither were in their prime during their amateur careers, but if you want to go by their achievements and consider a mythical head to head then the answer is absolutely crystal clear:Lomachenko wins. This is a man who fought FOUR HUNDRED amateur bouts… His record? 399–1!!! Yes, that is not a typo. He lost once in four hundred fights (a defeat he avenged more than once). To my mind Lomachenko is an excellent shout for the greatest amateur boxer of all time. And the greatest amateur boxer of all time beats Floyd Mayweather as an amateur easily.

How much do boxers make per fight? Is that their main income?

It will depend on many things. How good you are, how famous you become, and your weight division. Heavyweights, 140’s - 160’s are divisions were boxers best perform in terms of income. If you are a Mike Tyson or a Floyd Mayweather, you will become rich fast. Floyd for example had a $300 million deal with Showtime for six fights. He did more than that.Average SalariesThe U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that professional athletes -- a category that includes professional boxers -- had an average salary of $75,760 in 2012, with a median salary of $40,060. Professional athlete salaries can be as low as $18,040 a year, according to the BLS in 2012. Pro-boxing prospects may only fight a certain number of times a year and average annual salaries can vary widely. For example, a pro-boxer fighting 12 times yearly could make roughly $2,000 per 10 rounds boxed, or $24,000 at $200 per round. Pro-boxer salaries, however, are also decreased by various expenses.Take a look at this web site: Salaries of Pro Boxers

Why do mma fighters think they can beat boxers IN boxing???

It's called ego gratification. Boxing for the longest time was the dominate fighting style and it ruled in the PPV buys. Now, within the last 5 or so years, MMA has become the front runner. All these MMA fighters who have been busting their butts for so long and getting no recognition are now in the spotlight while Boxing fighters are taking a back seat (with the acception of the few boxers who are still in the main stream media). So this is a way of MMA fighters getting back at Boxers.

I never really got into boxing so I don't have that great of an appreciation for it as I'm sure you do. But I have to agree with you that it is completely stupid that MMA fighters can beat Boxers in a boxing match. When comparing Boxing to MMA, you are looking at apples and oranges. They are completely different, require different strategies, different skills, and different training. If George St. Pierre were to step in a boxing ring with Floyd Mayweather, GSP would get destroyed. And the same goes for if Mayweather stepped into the octagon with GSP. It is a stupid debate that stupid fans get into. Enough is enough if you ask me.
