What If Someone From The Discovery Channel Was Making A Documentary About You

Where can I find the Discovery Channels documentary on soldiers attending the HALo course in the Army?

The Military Free Fall Basic Course is an Army School and the Army is the proponent for all Airborne Operations in the military and certifies the other two free fall courses. With that said there are Navy (Marine) and Air Force Instructors who teach there and students from all branches attend. If you attend the Army's MFF Course you are considered HALO qualified by all branches. If you attend the Navy or Air Force Free Fall School you are only qualified to jump with that service.

Also the show in question was a Discovery Channel special and they have a website.

Where can I buy the Discovery Channel Wings Documentaries? (Aircraft) ?

Back during the 1990s the Discovery Channel ran the show "Wings" (no not the sitcom), a documentary about various aircraft like the B-52, the Panavia Tornado and various helicopters to name a few. It wasn't ever ran on Discovery Wings Channel (or the Military Channel) that I seen and the series isn't available on the Discovery store website probably due to its age. Is there anyway to get these on DVD? I'm looking for Wings of the Red Star and Wings of the Luftwaffe as well. Thanks

Can I film a documentary and sell it to Discovery/NatGeo channel, or can I get funding for my documentary film which I want to make?

I am really sorry to tell you that Nat Geo won’t fund you, anyway…You can Film your documentary, Try posting on YouTube and do proper advertisement. :)SorryHope it helpedxoxo

Why did the Discovery Chanel start making pseudo-documentaries, such as their most recent one about mermaids?

To draw and entertain viewers. There is a very high overlap between the audience interested in science and discovery, and those that are interested in fantasy/sci-fi genre works. So under that understanding, this is a good fit for drawing in viewers.

How does discovery channel get away with showing moonshiners? Isn't that a crime?

Now, think for a minute... what makes you think for one second that all that clear 'stuff' you see them running thru a water hose (very bad practice) and pouring into plastic milk jugs (another very bad thing to do) is really alcohol? First of all, it's entertainment, not real. They didn't even make a paste from flour and water and seal the cap or any connections! Yes, some parts are real but many things they show are not. You can't just add sugar to an already boiled batch and expect any alcohol to be produced. It has to be added to an existing batch of mash that the liquid was taken from and NOT boiled. Boiling kills the yeast and anything over about a 100 F is deadly to yeast. About the only alcohol that could've been REAL, was the stuff in the column that they stuck the hydrometer in and showed it was only 110 proof, not the 160 they laughlingly bragged about getting out of it. I would suspect that there's at least one if not more BATF agents present while filming just to make sure everything is on the up & up.Remember it's more like Survivor (totally fake) than anything real. They claim this guy Tim makes the best shine around?!! That's a slap in the face of the families who really know how to do this.

How do I pitch Discovery Channel?

You'll want to find a company directory of either a regional office (if you're still in DC) or the NY or LA branches of Discovery and get the contact info for the head of programming, the head of development and the like.Give those people a call. Chances are they will have assistants, so when he or she picks up, mention who you are and that you'd like to set up a "general meeting" with _______(insert department head name here). Find out that person's schedule. When you get in there, don't make it first about you. Find out what it is they're doing, and see what direction they're looking to take with their programming. Heck, if they have some property they're looking to develop, you might even suggest that you be the person who shoots, edits and delivers a spec pilot of sorts to them. This would build your relationship with the person you're meeting with and the network. You should develop both a written treatment of your idea -- the scope, purpose, potential budget per episode, demographic, etc. -- and a verbal pitch, expounding on why it is they should buy your idea. Attempt to hone in on the programming they already do within their lineup that most closely resembles what you want to do.It may be to your advantage to get a Powerpoint presentation together for your show, but that's probably better suited for a second meeting. Still, better to have it than to not.Research other companies who would be interested in doing your show, too.

Making Marines Discovery channel ???

I wanted to purchase the making marines they've been showing on the military and discovery channel. I found the ones they have on discovery channel for like 30 bucks, and the ones they have on ebay for a lot cheaper, I was wondering if anyone knew if it was the same documentary ?

I'm looking for an objective documentary on the moon landing.?

It's time to learn the truth about reality - just because someone doesn't agree with someone else does not mean their opinion is equally valid. One of them is simply in denial. Nothing is objective if it presents verified facts and then the nut job point of view. It would be like making a 2-hour documentary about Europe, and spending an hour of it talking to that kid in your class who's positive that Austria and Australia are the same country.

Why does Discovery Channel always want to make their documentaries feel "awesome"?

I know exactly what you mean, small incidences are magnified out of all proportion to try and make content more exciting. The trend began I think with Deadliest Catch. Which was a genuinly interesting series at the beginning, and was a huge hit. Discovery Channel decided to do all sorts of programming on the same format, however most of them are basically people doing their jobs.  So all kinds of tricks are used to make them more interesting and stretch the content. Its cheap, lazy and they are going to have to find some better formats, because they are really starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel. I often flick through the documentary channels, but I very rarely find anything worth watching on Discovery or Nat Geo.  Its very disappointing.
