What Impact Does Good Communication Have On Nursing Care

How important is communication?

Communication is not only important, but without it, human life would be non-existent. We have to be able to communicate on a personal level, both verbally and non-verbally. If there was no non-verbal communication, there would be no human reproduction.

I believe good communication is the key to a good relationship. If we communicate well with the people in our lives, we are able to better understand what the people around us want, need, expect of us, and what they are able to do and likewise, they will understand what we want, need, etc. This includes not just the people we live with, but our co-workers, doctors, service providers of many kinds...the list is endless.

The qualities should include being able to state your feelings, wants, needs, expectations, etc. honestly and in a clear manner without putting anyone down. When someone has done this, I feel it is then helpful to rephrase what you heard so you know you have understood their meaning clearly. If you have miss-understood something, this gives them a chance to clarify what they actually meant.

When people feel they have been understood, they feel like you value them, and that is a nice feeling.

What is the meaning of poor communication skills?

Here are some of the points to look out for:Feedback(Respond)- While communicating it should not seem like one-way communication. The other person starts feeling boring and frustrated if they don't get feedback. It is right that being a good commutator requires the ability to sit back and listen but at the same time, one should provide a proper response when it requires.Finding Problems(Negatives) - Try to avoid negatives as much as possible. Consider someone put an idea don't start finding problems or negativity in that idea. Try to identify the positive aspects rather than negatives. And if you do not like other’s ideas, don't negate them rather present your ideas as better.Too Much or Too Little- Don’t speak too much. Put your point and wait for others to respond and to put their ideas. At the same time, too little is also not good, provide enough details and information, written or verbally.Sarcastic Comments- Try to avoid sarcastic comments, the other person may not take it in the way you put it. This may cause a misunderstanding.Body Language- Sometimes it can send signals stronger than words. Try to make proper gestures and pose while you speak. There are many other points to keep in mind. These are some of the things one must avoid to be a good commutator.

Nursing: a well respected career?

In my opinion hell yes! But I am also a nursing student. :)
Who else gets the opportunity to care for people at their weakest hour, support and comfort both their patient and the patient's family. Nurses make a direct impact on people's lives everyday. I in all honesty can't think of anything more respectable than a mother or a nurse.
And a nurse is far from stupid, they make critical decision on a daily basis, time manage, prioritize, show compassion and have a vast knowledge of disease processes, medications, communication and new technology and procedures.
As another person stated, anyone who laughs or says anything negative about your dreams is a hater, their opinion should be discounted and quickly.

Is nurse a job for low people who couldnt get good education?

When those people who say that go to the hospital one day, they will never say that to a real Nurse's face. Who's there when they need help? The nurse. Who does the dirty work because the patient is too ill? The nurse. Nurses should be more respected than doctors, they are the ones brave enough and are able to ignore their own pride enough to help others in those types of situations. It really takes a strong and extremely caring person to become a nurse.
In my college getting into the Nursing program is extremely difficult. Most everyone who gets accepted has above a 3.7 GPA and works their butt off. They are by no means stupid. Nurses are in it to help people, not to make big bucks and have people think their amazing. But to do that they have to be amazingly smart and know their stuff. If anyone looks down on you, tell them to try wiping their own a s s next time they get a major surgery done and can't move. Then they'll see how much nurses matter.
