What Is A Bucket List I Am Young And Do Not Understand This Concept.

Cannot stop thinking about death, please everyone help!?

It seems every day i think about dying. More specifically, how, what will happen and what would a person think if they knew they were about to die. I'm 14.

A couple of years ago my cousin died at age 25 of terminal cancer, and i went to the funeral. To be honest, it was quite upsetting, a lot of people were crying and it wasn't nice to see so many people mourning the death of a young man. He was a great guy. Another thing that's troubling me is in the last few months of his life, i selfishly didn't come down when he came round or spoke to him. I kept thinking of how uncomfortable it would be. I guess i feel guilty about that. Could it be that the funeral etc has affected me more than i realise? I also have some dreams about it. Also, in school during R.E. lessons i keep thinking about how a God could let this happen to a young guy who had his life in front of him, i know that everyone has to suffer but come on. I also wonder what happens when you die, i mean, how did he feel when he knew it was terminal? Why was i so selfish. Best answer goes to someone who reads this and tries to answer all the questions.

I guess the main things i keep thinking about are:

-where is he now?
-what does a person feel like knowing he would die?
- why do i feel so guilty (i even feel guilty now because it's like im worrying about myself when he and his family are suffering
-how can it be fair that a good person does young and some bad people die old?

Everyone who answers thanks a million!

I believe that most atheists are older souls, so what was your challenge for this lifetime.?

Your atheism was a choice before you came here. I think you do not believe that but, bear with me for a minute.

Looking back on your life what has been your greatest challenge? It could be relationships, patience, perseverance, education, spirituality, artistic contribution, research, or overcoming long odds, like Down's syndrome?

All of my life relationships have been a challenge. Even before I was born my challenges began. I was adopted and my birth father left probably before he even knew he was a father. The contribution of men, and not women, has made me the person I am today, good and bad. I have one child, a son, and raising a son to be a good man is the most important challenge of my life. Perhaps all that went before was to prepare me for that responsibility.

Do you understand the point of my question? Search your soul before you answer. That is if you believe in one, lol!

If you think I'm crazy that is okay too.

Need help applying a question pertaining to the sociology of age to one of the theories?

Hi GaGa,
There's been a pattern of retirement from the workforce based on chronological age. In the U.S. the traditional age of retirement is 65. A Structural-Functionalist would try to account for this pattern by asking what functions for society and individuals is served by this age pattern. For example, requiring workers to retire at 65 means that there's more room in the workforce for newly graduated college-trained workers. Those workers may be more prone to have new ideas from their more recent training. The new, younger workers can be paid less for the same work vs. older workers who've moved up the salary scale. The older workforce can have a rather certain retirement date which may more fully allow them to plan ahead. Regards.

How do I become a TED speaker?

Having spoken at TEDx Dubai, I realized one thing - Everyone wants to speak at TED talks - Any person who is a public speaker, who can speak in public and has had the experience of speaking in Public - wants to speak at TED talks. And that is one wish on their bucket list. However, people fail to realize that if you have a heartfelt message or a message that can ‘change the world’ or a suicide story or anything else - they seriously do not care. In fact, the number of entries, pitches, stories and concepts they are bombarded with are so immense, so huge and so massive - it kind of not only drives them crazy - a pattern starts to erupt. So even though you may feel you are coming up with the most unique, the most original and most authentic story - someone, some place and some where has already said what you are planning to say.So if you are planning to speak at TED or really want to speak at TED - keep this much in mind - TED at the end of the day is a Brand that wants to expand, grow and become powerful. And not get diluted by every person’s sob story or ‘once-upon-a-time’ or another ‘change the world or touch the world’ message. If you have a very unique, powerful or world changing concept, innovation, design or idea that has already been executed and changed the world - then yes, you stand an incredible chance of speaking at TED. However, if you do not have this - you must at least have millions of followers and above followers on your Social Media Stream following your brand - and that in turn can prove to be a very strong factor to get you into TED. And if you do not have those two - well you need to have something so unique that no one has spoken before that would want them to listen to you - again and again and again. And if all the three are not there - well, all I can say is you should be the right guy, at the right place and at the right time to be selected as one. Here is the TED talk I gave purely because I got lucky.Loy Machedo
