Why is the Whole Foods in Palo Alto so run-down?
The Whole Foods in Palo Alto looks old and worn because, well, it is old and worn. That store was opened in 1989 as the first Whole Foods on the West Coast (Whole Foods Market History). The selection is diminished probably just due to size of the store, but I don't think poorer (in quality) than other Whole Foods locations.
What is a good place to buy kimchi in San Jose, California?
Take a drive up the road to the city of Santa Clara to the cross roads of Lawrence Expressway and El Camino Real. Find the address to "Palace BBQ" (a great Korean BBQ at your table kind of restaurant). Anyways, right next to the BBQ place in the same parking lot is a huge authentic Korean Market. It's like kimchi heaven in there. They also a couple of "refrigerated" tables with a large assortment of kimchi for takeout. Enjoy!
