What Is A Proxy Port And A Proxy Host

What is a proxy host?

A proxy host is better known as a proxy server. A server provides a service, and a proxy is a program that performs a task on behalf of another program or computer. A proxy server stands in for another server. A proxy server host is the computer running the proxy server.FunctionThe term "proxy" refers to many different types of devices in networking technology. At work, the network you access from your computer will probably use proxies. You are most likely to have contact with a web proxy. This proxy channels the traffic from your PC out over the Internet.Discovering Your HostThe network administrator for your company will be able to show you where to see your proxy host's address in the set up of your computer. It will be a part of the "Network Settings" area in the browser's "Options" configuration. There may be a list of several different proxies shown. Each covers a different type of request from your computer.FeaturesWhen you type an address into your browser, the browser does not contact that website. Instead, it contacts your proxy host and sends the address you want to visit to the proxy server. The proxy then visits that website on your behalf and delivers the content to you on the website's behalf.

What is a proxy port and a proxy host?

In the simplest terms, a proxy allows for a network connection via somewhere else, someplace else.

in the common place world, poxies are used to use a different IP address, basically, your computer uses it's Internet connection to connect to another computer (a server, hardware or software) some place else and it's that computer's IP that is used on the clear web.

Essentially, you can browse the Net from Seattle and make it look like you're in London.

a proxy port is just a specific port (software wise) that your computer is using to connect to the Internet, a proxy host is the server that I described above.

What are the differences between a proxy host and a proxy port?

A proxy address contains 2 parts. The proxy address and port. Example: 190.67.xx.xx : 3128The address is the address of the machine running a proxy server (IP Address) while the later is just a port number on that host machine. The same way HTTP is 80 and HTTPS is 443.

What is the best proxy port?

Usually proxies are assigned random port numbers while ensuring the port is not already taken. Also, proxies usually have an option to configure the port number so that they can listen on a different port.It is recommended to not use a port number below 1024 because this is usually reserved.

What are TCP, UDP, Proxy, port, local host, ip address?

TCP and UDP are simply put two ways of sending data from one place to another.
TCP ensures that the data you get is always right, so it does a lot of checks for you. That makes TCP connections a bit slow.
UDP tried to make the data reach you as fast as possible. It sometimes makes small mistakes because of being in such a hurry
I would suggest that if you are downloading text documents like ebooks etc. use TCP
If you are listening to songs, use UDP (you will not even notice the difference of sloppy delivery)

Proxy (Server) is a large computer that does the surfing for you. So assume that you want to go to yahoo.com, yahoo will find it very hard to handle all the people who want to see yahoo.com at the same time. A proxy server can then visit it for say 100 people and next time, if you ask for yahoo.com, it can send you the page all by itself (so yahoo is not overloaded) and you think the service is faster.

IP address is a way all the computers connected in the internet identify themselves. Each computer is given 1 unique IP address (much like we all have postal addresses). So if you know the IP address of each computer, its easier to reach that computer, rather than meander arounding asking people whether they know where this computer is connected. An IP address looks like 192.168.12.234

Port is like an electric socket at your home. Assume that you hv two TVs at your place, and both are tuned to different channels. So even if the channels knew that they are broadcasting the stuff to the same house (or IP address), they know that eventually it goes to two different sockets (or ports). Your computer has one IP address, but multiple ports. These port are numbers like 80, 3012 etc

I am simplifying all these terms for you to understand. I will recommend that you talk to your ISP or a local "computer-expert" to help you identify the exact proxy, IP address, port etc for you.

All the best!

How do you find a proxy server address and port?

How Do I Find My Proxy Server Address?Companies often use centralized proxy servers to control Internet traffic, block unwanted websites, control bandwidth settings and cache popular websites for faster browsing. To find a proxy server address, use the browser's proxy server settings window. How you access this window depends on which browser you use.StepClick the "Tools" menu in Internet Explorer, and select "Internet Options" to open the browser properties. Click the "Connections" tab and select "Settings" to open the proxy server configuration. View the section labeled "Proxy Server." This contains the Internet protocol and port address for your proxy server.StepClick the "Firefox" menu, select "Options" and choose "Options" again from the context menu. Click the "Advanced" tab, and then select the "Network" tab. Click "Settings" to open your proxy server configurations. View the section labeled "Manual Proxy Configurations." This lists the IP and port addresses of your proxy server.StepClick the "Chrome" menu button with the three horizontal lines on the Chrome browser toolbar. Click "Settings" in the drop-down menu. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "Show Advanced Settings" button. Scroll to the Network section of the expanded page. Which is a maximum and a minimum proxy port number?

The largest port number is unsigned 16 bit. So, 2^16–1 = 65535.Why -1?Because the smallest port number is 0. It is already reserved.

Where would I find the proxy server address and port info for a shared WiFi system?

Where would I find the proxy server address and port info for a shared WiFi system? It is quite simple to you to discover these addresses. You query your Network WiFi Interface. Under Windows, you access net properties, via Mouse (Contextual Menu), click over Net Icon, or, if desired, run cmd from Start Menu. Once there, type ipconfig. You will obtain a little report of Interfaces. WiFi System will list as “ WiFi”. Beside, IP and Gateway the most ones that import, for this time, are listed.Under GNU-Linux and cousins, the right command is ifconfig (Keyb box matters, here; type it all smallcaps).Bellow, an extract of my report (Win& Machine):Please observe: IP Address (Red) and Default GateWay (Cyan). They represent your IP and you probable Proxy Address. To know with more confidence, please view your Browser Configuration, under “NetWork” Tab.
