What Is Algebra 2 Like

What is Algebra 2 like?

It's like putting algebra 1 into visual form by using graphs.
There are graphs, lots and lots of graphs. >.<
If you passed algebra 1 with ease, then you'll do fine.
I had a hard time with shading when I was in high school and now I tutor up to trig and pre-cal. lol.

Should i take pre-ap algebra 2?

in algebra 1, i had grades like 100 or 99. Now i am in geometry and i have grades like 98 or 97. and now next year i wanted to try something different and a little hard. i want to know if i could be able handle pre-ap algebra 2?

Is Algebra 2 easy or hard?

I had Geometry last year and I was absolutely terrible at it. I did Algebra 1 the year before and I did really good. Last year baffled my parents a lot because I had never been bad at math, and I got like a C. I thought Algebra 2 was going to be a lot easier, and in some ways it is. But don't think it's an easy class in any way. It requires decent amounts of studying if you're not a naturally good at math student. I am doing better this year, like a B, but not as good as I hoped because of my heavy course work. I'm currently taking AP US history and AP Biology which are both hard courses plus my regular classes. It's not that easy but I'm juggling it alright.
Overall, Algebra 2 could be considered easier than Geometry if you are more of a numbers person instead of shapes, but in my opinion it's still not an easy class that requires lots of studying.

Do you like Algebra 2? Why?

I liked Algebra 2 because I was always good at it. It is like solving for x and y. And graphing is also fun to do. I also liked Algebra because it is like a puzzle. It gives you a clue and you have to find what it is. I don;t like Geometry because I just don;t like findind areas and perimeters of shapes. Last year, I sucked at Geometry. Algebra 2 is adding, multipling, dividing, and subtracting numbers to find the missing variables.

What is the difference between Algebra 1 and Algebra 2?

In American K-12 education (at least, in the parts of the USA where I've dealt with this), "Algebra 1" (or "Beginning Algebra") refers to the foundational algebra that schoolchildren would be taught in their first year of the subject. (One might also think of it as, "the algebra you should master before you take Geometry".) I would say that it must include:Solving linear equations in one variableSolving proportionsSolving linear inequalities in one variableSolving equations and inequalities that involve absolute-value expressions.Working with linear equations in two variables, and graphing them as straight linesSolving systems of linear equationsIntroduction to polynomialsAdding, subtracting, and multiplying polynomialsFactoring polynomialsSolving quadratic equationsTopics which are less essential at this stage, but may be included, are:FunctionsRadical expressionsAlgebra 2 (or "Intermediate Algebra") extends the student's algebra to the point where, if they attain mastery, they at least have the background to approach some science courses at the college freshman level. (Some, on the other hand, require calculus.) Topics I'd expect to see (after an Algebra 1 review) are:Rational expressions (fractions with polynomials in them)Transformations on functions (vertical and horizontal shifts)One-to-one functionsInverse functionsExponential functionsLogarithmsOther topics that might make an appearance are:Solving (larger) systems of equationsMatrixes (or "matrices", by the old convention that many people still cling to)AsymptotesThe rational zeroes theorem (or "rational roots")Conic sections (circles, ellipses, parabolas, hyperbolas)

Anyone like a genius at Algebra 2?

Two miles upstream from his starting point, a canoeist passes a log floating in the river's current. After paddling upstream for one more hour, he paddled back and reached his starting point just as the log arrived. Find the speed of the current.

Explain please!

College Algebra vs Algebra 2?

It depends on what your college major will be. If it is engineering, chemistry, physics or other science that is heavy in math, getting the advanced high school math out of the way first will keep you in sequence when you enter college. If your major is geology, sociology, etc, it probably won't make any difference. But getting high school advanced math out of the way will allow you to go into Calculus I your first freshman term instead of waiting to get these remedial courses out of the way first. College algebra is basically the same level as Algebra II in high school - it is considered a non-college level math course as are pre-calculus and trigonometry. Typically, your college will require you to take remedial math, including pre-calculus and trigonometry, if you have a low math achievement test score. Depending on your major, if there was any way to cram in both algebra II and trigonometry prior to college, it would give you a leg up.

Should I take Algebra 2 Honors next year?!!?!?

Ok here's the story...
im a freshman taking geometry honors right now and im kinda having a hard time with it. Last semester i got a B/86% in the class which is equivalent to an A in a regular class. But right now i have a C in the class and i am working my but off to raise it up.
But in the 8th grade i took algebra 1 and i aced the class. Do you think i'm going to do well in algebra 2 honors? The algebra 2 honors teachers told us that they're aren't going to be spots available for all of us because they only teach it for like three periods. So it's going to be very competitive to get in the class.
i really love math but my geometry grade is not making me love it as much as i used to. is algebra 2 honors really hard? does it relate to the concepts of geometry?
what should i do?
advice please...
thanks

Why does the state of Iowa make me take algebra 2? It’s not like I am going to need it.

I assume you are still in high school based on the question. First of all, at your age, how do you know you are not going to need it? Many jobs require you to be able to do math to this level. If you ever own a home and want to do projects yourself around the house, knowing algebra will help you in figuring out the right way to do them and material quantities needed. Learning math also teaches you to think logically and will help you to be able to solve other types of problems accurately and logically. Do you ever plan to invest in the stock market? If so, knowing algebra will help you analyze stock charts to help you to pick the right time to buy and sell. I could list many more applications, but hopefully, you get the idea. You are young. Why would you want to limit your possibilities by not learning basic math like algebra two?

What is the difference between Algebra 2 and Algebra 2 Honors?

The major difference between the two would be that one is an Honors course, while the other is not. Regular courses (e.g. Algebra II) are courses that everyone of the average intelligence must take in order to graduate (in this case high school). Honors courses (e.g. Honors Algebra II) require a significant amount of dedication and perseverance. Honors courses are more fast paced, give you more topics in a smaller quantity of time, and are more prestigious than the regular course. Honors courses look better on your resume, too. Usually, guidance counselors recommend Honors courses to those intending to attend a four year university to increase your chances of being accepted. However, it is imperative that one does well when taking one or more of these courses, because if you don’t, it shows that even though you were willing to take the jump by taking a harder course, you couldn’t do well on it. For all of the above mentioned, Honors courses are also worth more GPA points, 0.5 to be precise. These point may be crucial in graduating with a 4.0 or higher GPA. So, all-in-all, Honors courses are just harder, more praise-worthy, and more time-consuming than the normal course.
