What Is Everything Made Out Of

Is everything made of water?

No. Every living thing needs water to survive, but it isn't made of water. *Everything* is made of elements. In the case of water, they're oxygen and hydrogen (two of them). Diamond is made of carbon. Life, in addition to needing water is carbon-based (you can look up the chemistry on that).

But only water, ice, and steam (three basics phases of water) are actually specifically made of water.

Is everything made of atoms?

I would argue that in general every MATTER is composed of atoms but not everything is matter. It could be in form of energy as well.

Shadow isn't matter - just like how energy isn't considered matter. One thing to be noted is that atoms are not the same as particles (i.e. light energy has photon particles but isn't a 'matter' containing atoms).

I'd say shadow is simply absence of ENERGY or light.

Is everything made out of atoms?

Atoms themselves are made of subatomic particles such as electrons, protons, neutrons etc. some of these are made of quarks and others(like electrons) are made of Leptons. so, NO, Nothing is made of Atoms in our universe. but, i think what exactly you want to ask here is whether everything is made out of atoms (subatomic particles are understood and accepted here) in our universe. The answer is still NO, According to the Planck mission team, and based on the standard model of cosmology, the total mass–energy of the known universe contains 4.9% ordinary matter, 26.8% dark matter and 68.3% dark energy. Only ordinary matter is made of ‘atoms’, rest are not. Some physicists like to assume that dark matter is made of ‘dark atoms’ which in-turn is made of ‘Dark Protons’ and ‘Dark Electrons’, for the sake of explaining observational and experimental data; but the true composition of dark matter is not yet discovered. It is less likely to be made of atoms, as we know it, because unlike ordinary matter, Dark matter neither emits nor absorbs light or any other electromagnetic radiation at any significant level. According to consensus among cosmologists, dark matter is composed primarily of a not yet characterized type of subatomic particle. Since definition of dark matter is not precise, a minute proportion of dark matter MAY be baryonic dark matter: astronomical bodies, such as massive compact halo objects, which are composed of ordinary matter but emit little or no electromagnetic radiation. Baryonic matter MAY be made of atoms, no one knows for sure.PERHAPS dark energy results from weird behavior on scales smaller than atoms. So they are not made of atoms too.Only 4.9% of 'everything' in observable universe is made of ordinary matter (which obviously comprises of atoms). I could go on writing about these fascinating 'things', but it will out of scope of this question.

Is everything made out of atoms?

Most matter is made of atoms, certainly on Earth. It is isn't correct to say that everything is made of atoms. Photons aren't. Electrons are constituents of atoms, but when separated from atoms, it doesn't make sense to say that electrons are made of atoms. Outside of Earth, there are objects that can't really be described as "made of atoms". A neutron star, for example, isn't made up of any kind of distinguishable atoms; they're almost entirely made of just neutrons which are just one constituent of atoms. Even iin the interior of conventional "hydrogen-burning" stars (like the Sun), the electrons and protons form a plasma in which distinct hydrogen atoms aren't recognizable as such. So, since much of the matter of the universe is in stellar interiors, it isn't correct to say that "everything is made of atoms".

Is everything made up of cells?

no, only living things are made of cell, b/c cells have the things needed to live, and they create living things.

Is everything made up of energy?

Yes in all accounts.Everything is made up of energy. In a way you can say that energy can present itself in two forms. Waves and Particles.Waves have basically a infinite amount of possibilities. And within certain ranges of frequencies, waves have certain characteristics. That we simply call radiation. And within radiation we got Microwaves, Radio, Infrared, Optic, Ultraviolet, X-rays and Gamma.Energy can also present itself as particles. Particles that come in various degrees of magnitude. That's why we got the subatomic with Quarks. Quarks in turn make up protons, electrons and neutrons. Protons, electrons and neutrons, make the atoms. Atoms make molecules. Molecules make everything else. But in the end it's all energy.

Is everything made up of matter?

In physics matter means something different then in philosophy. So, for physics, matter is only a part of physical existing things. If we take matter to mean anything physical (existing in space and time and in motion always), then the material world (what is outside /external to our consciousness and independent of it) is indeed matter, and everything is made up of matter. But there are ‘things’ that are not material:Dreams, ideas, a poem, a program, information, a mathematical structure. They also ‘exist’ in some sense, but are not material. They are either mental/spiritual or abstract. So, we could categorize the world in two or three classes of existing ‘things’:Material: anything that exists independent of our consciousness, and exists in space and time, and is in motion always.Mind: anything that exists in our consciousness/mental experience of the world (thoughts, dreams, emotions, cognition and perception)Abstract: Numbers, mathematical structures, geometrical forms, etc.The abstract world sort of exists on its own (exist independent of mind and indepent of anything material, and not in space/time).The fundamental question in philosophy is about the relation between the material world and the world of mind. Two directions exist, the first being that matter is the original component of the world (matter exists without being created, so matter exists on its own), and mind is a development product of the material world (though life/living entities). That is the position of (philosophical) materialism. The opposite direction is that the original component of the world is mind (either subjective or objective) which created the material world. The subjective form is called Solipsism (only one’s own mind exist, nothing else) the objective form Idealism, and which in many cases takes shape as a form of religion (the belief in a supernatural spiritual creator of the world). And as a third direction, one could mention platonism, the idea that the original component of the world are abstract forms/relations ('ideal forms’). Modern form of it: the mathematical universe hypothesis (Max Tegmark).

Is everything made of nothing?

Shakespeare shouts through the mouth of King Lear:EX NIHILO NIHIL FIT-nothing will come out of nothing! When Buddha visualizes at the end of his inquiry SHUNYA- Nothingness, when one attains nirvikalpaka samadhi, Adi Sankara reminds him not to forget his own existence in declaring that there is nothing! it is similar to asking you:Do I have a tongue? Or I tell you: i am sorry that I do not exist! Unless taken in metaphorical sense, nothing denotes not something, not that particular thing. No thing implies not any particular X or Y.As mud is required to make a pot, so also something is required to make everything, the sum total of somethings. Even all are destroyed out of explosion/Big bang, the ashes will denote something out of which again all /everything will emerge!Nothing exists can be logically taken as that it is not the case that something exists. So nothing is taken as more hypothetical indicating a pseudo subject about which we cannot talk anything save pseudo predicates.I take Nothing=everything=nothing!

Why is everything made of energy?

Energy has no proper definition in physics. It is generally understood as ‘ability to do work’. Ability of what? Ability is a quality and hence a functional entity. Functional entities fulfill all functions assigned to them. They have neither objective reality nor positive existence in space. Hence, energy is not real but imaginary entity that exists in minds of physicists and in mathematical analyses. Since it is not a physical entity it cannot make anything real. Everything is not made of energy but energy is used as a convenient cause of action, where cause is not obvious. An alternative view: In material world, everything is made of matter. Matter provides substance to all real entities. Substance of an entity makes it real by providing objective reality and positive existence. Therefore, all real entities are made of matter.
