What Is It Like Going To An International School

What is an international school?

I'll try answering some of those questions. International schools are usually made up students whose parents require them to move around a lot, expats. Most have been to an international school before.
International school are generally private schools so yes, they cost money. The ones I've been to are K-12 and I think most of them are. I don't really know how enrollment works. Some of the really big, well known ones, depending on where you go, will have a waiting list.
Plenty of students go to the US for college after going to an international school. You'll have to take the SATs of course. Some international schools offer AP courses too and the IB diploma is usually accepted by colleges.

What is the International School of Beijing like?

Both of my kids have been there for more than 10 years. My oldest is graduating this year. My younger daughter chose to remain in China to finish school there. My oldest - accepted and going to UC Davis. Declined at University of Georgia, UC San Diego and UC San Jose. Accepted at Auburn, University of Western Washington and Washington State. Her friends. Going to NYU, UCLA, and Boston University, Another friend deciding between Princeton and Cornell.ISB is probably the best international school in all of China. WAB (Western Academy of Beijing) is probably a close second.

Korean International School? KIS? :)?

I'm going to move to Korea and I'll be living somewhere that's a 15 minute drive to Seoul. I want to go attend KIS, but I read their website and they said that I had to take a test. Is the test hard? What exactly is the test about? And can you recommend me some other schools in Korea that's close to Seoul? By the way, I'm Korean and I know both languages fluently. I could go to a Korean school because it's cheaper than a international school, but I don't want to study for 16 hours a day LOL.
I also want to be in a school that's comfortable for me and I searched up KIS and saw how 'Americanized' it was, lol. :)
Please help! 10 points to the person who helps me! :)

Is Harrow International School a good school?

I go to Harrow HK, it's currently my second year here and I hate it. The school is horrible and no one in the school actually enjoys being here. It is not an exaggeration - literally nobody enjoys it here. Trust me, you'll have a much better time in HKIS, CIS, or GSIS. Those schools have a good education like Harrow but their students actually enjoy school life.

People in Harrow are severely depressed (some of them) and they hate being here. I'm just glad that I'm leaving in a few weeks to go to America. School here is basically like a jail, especially if you're a boarder. Teachers are unreasonable, and there are only two or three genuine teachers in the whole school. They use sanctions as a weapon to force us to do things, and boarders are treated like children; they are put to bed, told to tidy their desks, registered at meal times, and some teachers are making boarding life even more difficult than it is supposed to be.

Class times start at 8:15, and end at 4:50. Last year, it was from 8:00 to 5:00. After school, activities are limited, and there is no personal space for boarders. Teachers do not treat students with respect that the students are forced to treat the teachers with.

How is going to an international school in Singapore like?

I used to go to GEMS World Academy Singapore, and it is the only international school I went but it was so nice. The school team was well-organised, staffs were supportive and nice. Students were also friendly. There are many students from different countries, it is really fantastic.

Is it worth going to an international school here in Philippines?

It wasn’t stated in your question, but I would say it’s only worth it if;a) you’re a high performing student and your goal is to attend an overseas University, particularly in the United States.andb) the financial burden isn’t going to be too much.In regards to ISM, the educational standard is very high and they have excellent facilities and resources. You’ll still have to perform well though in the HS Diploma and/or IB if you want to open doors to top Universities abroad. It also doesn’t come cheap. My friend, a fellow British expat, has his daughter at ISM. Her tuition is $14,990 and P481,840 a year. That’s basic tuition. It doesn’t include a range of other ancillary costs like matriculation, uniform, field trips, books, etc..If you were planning to attend University in the Philippines (at least as an Undergrad) then I would say it’s probably not worth it.A motivated and bright student will excel no matter where they are schooled. Financially you could also probably find a more economically priced (but still private) school somewhere else in Manila.

Who regulates the international schools in Singapore, and how does it do so?

The Committee for Private Education (CPE), under the Ministry of Education, regulates all private schools, including international school (classified as Foreign System Schools). They do so via two licensing frameworks, the Enhanced Registration Framework (ERF), and the EduTrust Scheme. Schools found to be in breach of these framework may be deregistered, and their registered School Manager fined or jailed.
