What Is My Niche Name

Should you blog under your name or create a niche-related website domain name?

In my opinion, you should always block and domain name first before start building your website because, nowadays, it is becoming very difficult to search an unregistered domain name. Whatever meaningful domain name you will think, when you will start to check it’s availability, most of the .com domains are already registered. Most of the times, you may also go with some other TLDs.After finalizing the name of your website, you will have to design a logo and do the branding of the site accordingly. It will work in following stepsRegister domain nameDesign good logoUse the color combination of logo, in the website theme. So, if you will not have the domain name ready, it will be very difficult for you to move to step 2 and 3.So, I will suggest you use a Domain Name Suggestion Tool to find a good domain name and register it first before start making a website.

What is the best name for a niche site domain? Must it contain the keyword (google ranking wise)?

I see text book answers but let me give you one from experience.Yes, having the keywords in your TLD will help, INITIALLY. I tested this theory with a two word keyword and ranked in the top 3 within a few days, with ZERO content on a generic WordPress install. Now your results will vary depending on the keyword competition. For example, trying this with Lawyer or Car Sales is not going to work, and cost you A LOT of money.A couple of weeks later the site did not even show up on Google. Why? Because there was no content, no updates to the site, it served no purpose.A better action plan is to have a branded keyword as your TLD like I and many other business owners I know did, and then add the content, URL structures, meta descriptions, etc…It also depends on what you’re building the site for. I also own a couple of Amazon Affiliate sites and they are using generic keyword phrases. There is zero branding effort going on there. One final note. I have not confirmed one way or the other that the new generation of TLD (.guru .expert .site etc..) work the same way and have the same weight with Google. I have read that they don’t but no actual proof to that yet.

How can I Pick the perfect domain name (health niche) with low competition score?

David, to give you a good usable answer, I'd really need a lot more information. You'll need to expand on what is "perfect" for your purposes? What are the goals of your name selection? Are you looking for a brandable name? Keywords with high SEO value? PPC advertising potential? Generally, if a domain name is good, there will be a higher competition score, so if you want perfection, be prepared to pay for it. Spending time on naming as part of a strategic plan for your company, product or service will definitely pay dividends later.Become very familiar with using the Google Adwords tool. Start here: https://adwords.google.com/KeywordPlanner You can also check the competition score of a specific domain name using Valuate: FREE Domain name appraisals. If this is a serious venture, though, I'd highly recommend the use of a pro to guide you through the name selection process. This can take from an hour to two months, depending upon the value you want the name to provide to the product or service.

Can I build a niche site with the word "Nintendo" in the domain name?

The other answers below cover the general basics of why it’s not a good idea, but I’d like to put out a possibility, under the general heading of “fair use.”If you build a niche site of say, Nintendo fans, and it is devoted to Zelda fanfic, local Nintendo game tournaments, or something similar, and you clearly state that you do not own the name, that may (and I emphasize may) fall under “fair use” of the name. So if you have a league of folks who play tournaments on vintage Nintendo, you might be able to get away with a site that lists when the tournaments are being held, shares photos of the tournaments, etc. that clearly shows you are not impersonating Nintendo, but instead using the word fairly since what you are doing is using Nintendo products. Then you might get away with a domain like “CitynameNintendoLeague.com” or similar. But I’d also register a second domain to use in case Nintendo did decide to sue you, something like “CitynameVintageGameLeague.com.” Then you can reroute the site there if the original name becomes an issue.

Names for Swim Schools?

I would include something about your city or local area...even a zip code. The reason is if you have a website the name will come up high in local search engines. For instance 94002swimschool. Not catchy but would come up very high if someone was looking on the web.

The other idea is to make it more of a niche name. For instance, what is your specialty? Is it teaching beginners, babies, competitive swimmers, adults, or what? Who is your target market?

Then you could make your name to fit the niche. superbabyswimming; swimfasterswimlessons, adultswimlessons.

I know they aren't super catchy names but you don't have a lot of money to build a brand image so you want your customers to know what you do quickly and easily. Good luck!

What name should I choose for my niche social network targeting college engineering students?

Entrepreneurs everywhere are trying to grab their fleeting attention. They're part of that coveted 18- to 30-year-old demographic. If your product has a shelf life after college, you're in luck--you're catching them in their purchasing power formative years. But to use an appropriate analogy, selling to college students is no easy A. That's because marketing to college students poses a special set of challenges. They're often transient, skeptical and cash-strapped, making for a difficult market to penetrate. The name is not as important as the a marketing plan.
