What Is The Best Premed School Here In The Philippines Why

What are the best schools in the Philippines?

For elementary/high school, the "best" options are not much concentrated to a very small number, probably because kids are less willing to travel far on a daily basis. Several types of schools are considered excellent:Private catholic schools, mostly gender-exclusive (e.g., Ateneo de Manila University, La Salle Greenhills, La Salle-Santiago Zobel school, Woodrose School, Southridge School, Don Bosco Technical Institute, St. Scholastica's College, St. Theresa's College, Assumption College, St. Paul College)Chinese schools, considering that many of the richest in the Philippines are of chinese ancestry (e.g., Chang Kai Shek College, Xavier School)State-funded science schools (e.g., Philippine Science High School, Manila Science High School, University of the Philippines integrated school)International schools (e.g., International School Manila, British School Manila, Brent International School, Southville International School and Colleges)For college, many people from far places are willing to travel to study at the "big four" universities, which are located in Metro Manila:University of the Philippines - Diliman (non-sectarian, state-funded)Ateneo de Manila University (Jesuit, private)De La Salle University - Manila (Brothers of the Christian Schools, private)University of Santo Tomas (Dominican, private)While there are other reputable schools too, they may not be as prestigious as the big four.___Update: During my era (2001–2005), the "feeder schools" of De La Salle University Manila's college population are as follows, in no particular order:Don Bosco Technical Institute (Makati)St. Paul College PasigChiang Kai Shek College (DLSU has a higher population of Filipino Chinese compared to AdMU)Claret School (Quezon City)Elizabeth Seton SchoolLa Salle GreenhillsDe La Salle-Santiago Zobel SchoolAs of 2016, some of the feeder schools are (on top of other La Salle High School campuses):Chiang Kai Shek CollegeElizabeth Seton SchoolGrace Christian CollegeJubilee Christian AcademyMakati Hope Christian SchoolNotre Dame of Greater ManilaPhilippine Cultural CollegeSt. Jude Catholic SchoolSt. Peter the Apostle SchoolSt. Scholastica’s CollegeSt. Stephen’s High School[Source: DLSU partners with select Senior High Schools]

Can I go to medical school abroad, let’s say the Philippines, and be a doctor here in the US?

Yes.You must enroll and be accepted at an accredited medical school and complete the 4 years required. There is a list of accredited schools on World Directory of Medical Schools .Then you have to do STEP 1 and do residency in the USA.Good luck!Me and my sister went this route since it costs less and the requirements to apply are not as high / strict as in the USA.However this does not mean the coursework is easier than in the USA!This is a common mistake people make when they come here for medical school. The material and coursework is the same as the USA medical schools. The only noticeable difference is they follow Philippine guidelines when applicable. Also they use the metric system.Unlike medical schools in the USA, they do cut people out of Medicine if you do poorly (It is called being debarred here) and are not afraid to hold you back a semester or more if you don’t make the cut.Good luck!

What are the top pre-med schools in the Philippines?

Hi, I'm a higher schooler here in the US choosing which school I should go to in the Philippines. I am planning to take a pre med course in the Philippines but I want to go to a school that is acknowledge here in the US because after getting my bachelor's degree, I planned on going back here in the US to continue my studies in medicine. But first, is that even possible? Will US accept my bachelor's degree in the Philippines? And what are the requirements to get in a college/university in the Philippines? Are there like SATs and required hours of volunteer work? Do I have to make a college resume to get in or do I just have to take an entrance exam? I have so many questions I need to be answered so pleaaasseee.... help!!!
Deciding where I should go for college has been bothering me for a really long time now. But I know I want to go back to the Philippines for college because 1, that's where I really belong, living there was one of the happiest years of my life, and 2, college/universities are way cheaper there than here in the US.

How to become an anesthesiologist in the philippines?

Anesthesiology is a branch of medicine. In the Philippines, the procedure is quite different from the US. You'd need to complete 4 years of undergraduates studies in any Allied Health program (preferably Medical Technology, Biochemistry or Pharmacy). Then 4 years of Medicine Proper. 2 years of residency afterwards for general practice. Then your specialization studies could take as long as 2-4 years.

Take your undergraduate degree in either of the Big Four - UP (Manila), Ateneo, De La Salle, or UST. I personally recommend UST for it offers the best health care service education in the country. Still UST for your Medicine Proper. For residency and specialization, I suggest St. Luke's Hospital.

P.S: You need to work on your grammar. Med school is hard enough even without complete ignorance over the basic rules of English.

Are the medical colleges in the Philippines worth studying from?

I am living in Manila, Philippines for last 1 year, though everything is good here, specially weather. But that single thing for which I have came here is entirely screwed i.e; education quality.Every college here is privately owned, and the only thing the college is doing is minting money. With the help of agents all over the India, students are brought here, as there is no rule for number of seats in a college, so the college enroll a lot of students. For example some colleges have enrolled 1000 Indian students in a single year. I think entire Tamil Nadu is over here (#Agents-are-great), though I am from New Delhi. Here in Philippines you are not enrolled in medicine but in a pre-medical course such as BS-Biology or AB-Psychology which has a duration of a 1 and 1/2years, moreover there is a National medical test over here in which you have to score 40 to 60 percentile depending upon the college you are in.I am not feeling good about my decision to come here, if you are mediocre(average) you will also suffer here since majority of the students Basic sciences knowledge is nothing and you are a fool in majority of idiots. I am not talking about intelligent or hardworking students because there are India preparing for medical entrance exam. I will recommend you if you want to become a doctor and you want it badly, work hard and get admission in a government college in India. See individual expectations and experiences vary, I had a bad one and I am here propagating this message because when I was in India and searched for the experiences, I could not find a single genuine experience but only agents propagated agenda. You can check my blog for more. Thanks and RegardsLameRebel

Is studying an MBBS in the Philippines better or should I stick to India? What are the pros and cons?

IF anybody tells you that MBBS abroad is better than in INDIA! THEY ARE LYING TO YOU! Keep away from them!If you are talking about studying medicine in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada or Western Europe, then yes - medical education in these countries has higher value globally than India. BUT if not, India is the best choice - trust me.I am a 2nd year medical student currently studying in the Philippines. Let me be brutally clear. Indian MBBS is highly valued outside India. Especially in the U.S. and U.K., (I have doctors in my family who live and work there). Ultimately, most of us choose to go abroad because we could not secure an admission in India and can’t pay the crores needed for a seat.I chose the Philippines because of the language, lesser flight travel time, similarity to the U.S. educational standards, living costs and fee structure.BUT, Don’t expect the best and come here. Some colleges in the Philippines are working with agents and producing people with degrees, NOT DOCTORS. In these colleges you will be treated like second class students and the real training will only be given to Filipino students. This is the TRUTH!Many of the upvoted answers above are from Indian Educational Agents/consultancy. They will only tell you things you want to hear. Some of them have cheated innocent students and their parents taking lakhs of rupees and no admission.I have wrote about my experience in the Philippines, how to choose the best college for MBBS in the Philippines and How to do admissions directly with the universities without paying agents or getting cheated.
