What Is The Color Of The Sky

What color is the sky on Mars?

Anyone who is working with Viking Lander images should be aware that there were four different cameras involved and that each of these had a set of three color filters that were used to make the color composite images.  Since the spacecraft were to be heat sterilized normal gelatin photographic filters could not be used. Instead relatively novel (at the time) interference filters were made.  In Viking project histories you will read about theories that gamma radiation from the radio thermal generators altered the characteristics of these filters. Well I won’t argue with experts but the original calibration data for these filters are still available and these data agree nicely with what I found from the image data.  What I found is this. The images from the four different cameras vary significantly in terms of color tone.  So much so that one can usually tell what spacecraft and camera was used to take a picture.  This is a series of points plotted on a polar diagram of the red, green, blue color space. The areas chosen were small segments of the sky under different conditions. This by the way is in reality a 3 dimensional Cartesian representation of that color space. Now let’s blow that up a bit so we can see a bit more detail. Now you can see that the different colors plot in different regions with almost no overlap.  What then do these colors represent?  Green = Viking Lander 1 camera 1Blue = Viking Lander 1 camera 2Yellow= Viking Lander 2 camera 1Magenta= Viking Lander 2 camera 2So I can tell at a glance that the picture on this Quora page has been altered. This is image number 11H016 meaning that it was the 16th picture of the H series by Viking 1 camera 1. Notice where the data for Viking 1 camera 1 lie.  They are farthest along the green axis.  That means that they will have a green cast and indeed if we look at an unaltered version of this image we see that to be so.Below is a picture taken by Viking 1 camera 2 note the difference. In summary:Does mars have a blue sky sometimes?  Well yes when the dust is at a minimum but only close to the horizon. If you are going to use Viking Lander images to illustrate colors etc. You’d better have done your homework.Which lander/camera combination gives the best color rendition?  My opinion is that it is smack dab between Lander 1 camera 2 and lander 2 camera 2.  That line going from lower left to upper right will be neutral and is in fact a plane that bisects the color space.

What is the joke about what is you name what color is the sky what color is the clouds what color is the grass?

No, It is really like this:
"What's your name?" "(example) Nicole" "What color is the sky?" "Blue" "What way am I pointing? (and points towards the sky)" "Up,"
Nicole Blew Up.
Or there is:
"What is your name?" "Nicole" "What is this? (pointing to your nose)" "Nose" "What's in my hand? (laying your hand flat with nothing in it)" "Nothing"
Nicole Knows Nothing.

Those are the tricks.

What color is the sky on a clear day?

b-l-u-e

HELP! "what color is the sky?"?

Basically, it has no colour: it is transparent. At night, when the Sun and Moon are below the horizon, it is black, except where the stars shine through it. When the Moon rises, it turns gray: light scattered by the air molecules, but not bright enough to trigger the colour receptors in our eyes. When the Sun is in the sky, it turns blue because of Rayleigh scattering by air molecules. It is still transparent, though, because you can see the Sun and Moon through it, and even bright planets and stars if you know exactly where to look. When the Sun is low in the sky, or just below the horizon, the sky shows various colours due to complex scattering and refraction.

But probably the answer they want is "blue."

What color is the sky in China?

It seems many people think the air in China, especially in Beijing is awful. It is understandable that for those who never come to China suspect that the environment in China is a mess. But If u are a citizen of China and If you don't dwell in Beijing in recent years, u can't surely say the sky of Beijing is yellow or something esle. Chinese government is committed to improving the environment and we have already seen the achievement. I want to emphasize that the air in Beijing is good and the sky is always blue even in winter.

What color is the sky on Mars? What color is the sky on Venus?

The sky on Mars is generally a pale blue, but it also tends to have a lot of dust particles in it which shifts the light to be more pinkish. The sky on Venus is a strong, acidic yellow.I think that picture might be brightened to show more detail, the reality is probably closer to this one:
