What Is The Connecting Theme Between Aristotle Kant And Rawl

What is the connecting theme between Aristotle, Kant, and Rawl?

I am writing a four page paper that asks about these three philosophers. We are currently discussing justice in my Composition class. So I know obviously they connect in this way. However our teacher wants us to dig deeper. For the assignment we must :

Create a four-page document, exploring Aristotle's definition of justice, Telos, and Honor? What is the definition of Kant's moral philosophy of justice? What is Rawls' definition of equality, and which principles emerge as more important than others?

My teacher also said this:

Remember, too, this is just a four page essay. This means you can't include everything, but your essay needs to be cohesive. With this in mind, is there a connecting thread that ties all this together? Use this 'connection' as your thesis statement. But I caution you not to simply offer that it's about justice: can you deconstruct the idea further?

Also, remember, for your introduction, as we are using Sandel's text as our primary read, we want to introduce the text, identify and define important terms, and then connect to your thesis statement. Avoid sweeping generalizations and rhetorical questions that are not very rhetorical.

If anyone can help me with a strong thesis statement, or at least help me understand a common theme between the three that would be great. I have done some research for this assignment, and have read about their individual views, however am having trouble with the connection.

I promise some nice points to whoever can help

What is meta-ethics, and what are some examples?

A simple way to think of this is to divide ethics into three main categories:Applied Ethics (Is it moral to eat meat?)Normative Ethics (Should morality solely be based on achieving the best outcome?)Metaethics (Is there such a thing as moral facts?)Metaethics is sort of like the machine room of ethics. It’s where the most fundamental questions get asked such as:Can moral statements be true or false? (Cognitivism vs Non-Cognitivism)Are moral assertions actual assertions, or just expressions of emotions? (Emotivism)Can moral facts, if they exist, be reduced to physical phenomena? (Naturalism vs Non-Naturalism / Reductionism vs Non-Reductionism)Is there such a thing as moral facts? (Moral Realism vs Moral Anti-Realism)
