IF you use this credit card, just pay in full each month.
This avoids interest any interest and develops nice credit.
It's the dummies out there that carry balances that end up ruining their credit. Don't be one.
No charge per transaction.
Never transfer or withdraw money (cash).
Never use a cash advance - ever in your life !
Forget APR (interest). Since you will pay in full, you will never pay interest.

Surprised they gave this card to you. Without you having any clue how credit works.
Please, pay in full each month - understand?

Are you sure you are not confusing the checking account debit check card with a credit card? I am shocked how a parent can throw out a kid in this world (an adult) without him having a clue how checking accounts or credit cards work.

If I'm lucky, I will get an explanation for the thumbs down.
You did open a checking account. Correct?

How do I use my Wells Fargo College Credit Card?

1. Use it the same as a debit card. You do not need a pin. With a credit card, you sign for it.

2. payments are subject to terms and conditions of the specific company. This depends on how you pay and all that. But is usually rather easy and simple. Call the number on the back of your card and the rep will tell you all about how topay and answer any questions you have.

- usually, and this is how mine works, you can charge 200 pay 200 wait for the payment to clear (usually a day if you use an established bank count to pay it online, 7 days or so with a check) and then use the same 200.

- you want to build credit history with a card. There are 2 kinds of credit cards. Ones you pay off monthly and ones you can pay small amounts on each month and pay interest. You can use the latter like the one you pay off every month by paying it off every month. It's slightly better to not pay it off all the way (but pay it almost completely off) so that it's considered a revolving credit line. This is because if you pay it off every month prior to the due dat, the credit bureau may look at it as a pay off each month account which will NOT help your credit utilization.

3. You DO NOT want to spend more than 180 dollars at a time on this card. A good credit utilization is 30%. More than this greatly effects your credit. You want to use credit responsibly and not get in over your head. To do this, learn as much as you can about how credit works.

Wells fargo credit card, how do they work?

Credit cards are great... what you need to do is use the card instead of money ... every month bank will issue statement showing what you bought ... they give you a date to pay for your purchases, pay complete before that date every month ... this will give the bank confidence in you and will increase credit limit.
The 700 that you deposited are like a insurance for them and at the same time your credit limit ... after six months they will release the card and you can receive your money back. and start using the banks money.
Once you have good records, you can receive a car that will give you money back, no fees.

Wellsfargo student credit card?

No. You cannot take $900.00 all at one time. You have to make room in your credit line for the cash advance fee and and first month's interest. Let say you took $900.00. Wells Fargo will charge you at least 3% for cash advance fee = to $27.00. Interest starts accruing immediately let say your interest rate is 17%, let say account cycles in 20 days = around $8.76. On your first bill you are over your credit limit. Oh, they will charge you $29.00 for being over your credit limit. And because you went over the limit. They will close your account. Pretty ugly! Isn't it? Make sure you read all the Terms and Agreement. Use the credit card only when it's truly an emergency and make sure you are able to pay in about 2 to 3 cycles until you become more disciplined. BTW, many cc company will not allow you to cash out the whole credit line if the account is so new. They may allow you just a small portion of it. Or sometimes none.

If the bank ever closes your account that is bad news to your credit score. Pay more than the minimum and pay early every cycle. Keep the repayment period short. If you prolong a small balance this raise question to the next bank reviewing your credit history.

Another point. With a $900.00 and a balance of let say $850.00. That is bad news also. Maybe $600.00 or less. The closer your balance is to the credit limit the worse you credit score will be.

Beware... Be smart...

Wells Fargo closed my Secure Credit Card. will it hurt my credit score?

Hi! I just got here in U.S 2 years ago and I got my first wells fargo SECURED credit card 8 months ago with the credit limit of $300. Last week, I got approved for the WF UNSECURED credit card with $1,000 credit limit. I checked my online account and I found out that wells fargo closed my secured credit card same day without my knowledge. Yesterday received a letter from WF that “WF closed your secured cc as your requested”. First, I never requested to close my secured credit, swear. I panicked and I called my banker. I told her what I found out. my main concern here is my credit score because I’m starting to build my credit that’s why I open secured credit card. My banker told me that was nothing to worry about and it won’t hurt my credit score. She also told me that I don’t need secured credit anymore because I already have unsecured. My credit score is 640
What should I do?
Is it true that it won’t hurt my credit score?
Should I call WF not to close my secured credit since I didn’t request to close that account?
