What are your thoughts on Marvel making a Shang-Chi movie?

I’m cautiously optimistic.Marvel Studios and TV is aware of the source material’s checkered past when it comes to stereotypes. They’re not perfect, but have made positive changes to some characters when adapting them for the movies. M’Baku is a great example. When the character was announced for Black Panther I cringed at the thought of seeing a full body gorilla suit on a character called Man Ape. Thankfully they took the character and made him work. Instead they used the comic version as an inspiration for the character. The gorilla motif is relegated to a ceremonial mask that compliments T’challa’s and not once is he called Man Ape.Shang Chi will probably receive similar treatment. His comics origin, which is steeped in the white savior and noble savage tropes, needs to be revamped. This shouldn’t be much of a problem for Marvel Studios. Those tropes are lazy writing and would take a little effort to redo the origin, while keeping the core of the character. His look in the comics have already been updated. Gone are the days where he’s drawn with actual yellow skin and wearing stereotypical, kung-fu movie, robes. His recent look has a more traditional super-hero feel to it.All these things make me hopeful for this movie. We’ll see how this plays out and who they cast (Daniel WU). If they can find someone that can actually perform some of the stunts and can act (Daniel Wu) then I will be on board (cast Daniel Wu already).I do have some reservations regarding this movie that has nothing to do with the character and how Marvel Studios will handle him. Just days after Daredevil, a series about another martial arts based hero, is canceled they announce Shang-Chi. While I’m sure the Netflix Marvel shows were on the way out anyway, the timing isn’t good. It makes it look like Daredevil was canceled so they wouldn’t have competition for their new movie. Sounds crazy but after seeing how Marvel Comics treated the X-Men and FF until recently, due to Fox having the movie rights, I wonder if the same thing is happening.TL:DR I think they can make a Shang Chi movie that will be enjoyable to the masses while at the same time modernize his backstory.

Kung Fu: What do each discipline/form of the 36 chambers of Shaolin teach?

Oh the movie played by that baldy? What was his name, Gordon Liu i think? Anyways the first 35 houses, were really a series of progressive training to help the Shaolin disciple progress up the kung fu ladder. It starts off with really small techniques such as balancing on a log in a pond, training your arms and legs, and later your arms (about the first 1-6 chambers i believe), the next few chambers train strenght and dexterity as well (somewhere between 10-20 ish), following that are the real kung fu techniques; fist training, leg training, head training etc. (20-30is). The last 4 levels were mainly for training of weaponry, staff, swords, knives, etc. the 35th level was for philosophical training in Buddhism, to ensure you leave training with a pure mind and heart. The 36th chamber was originally non-existent at the beginning of the film, but instead formed by the monk San Te (gordon liu) after he progresses through all levels and defeated the disciplinary master at Shaolin Temple. The 36th chamber was used as an academy of martial arts, aimed to teach the regular people (non-monks) martial arts to defend themselves (and secretly overthrow the Qing Dynasty). Before the formation of the 36th chamber, martial arts was taught almost exclusively to monks only. These new 36th chamber disciples were called Su Jia Di Zi, meaning Regular Folk Disciples, or that of non-monk lineage. The 36th chamber was well known for harboring and training dissidents of the Qing Dynasty and was probably one of the reasons why the Qing Dynasty eventually burned the Southern Shaolin Temple

How to predict fights like Sherlock Holmes?

Looks pretty neat, doesn't it? Thing is, it's heavily fictionalized.

Some (I'd argue many) fighters will use visualization, but that isn't the same thing.

Some (many) fighters study footage of their opponent, or have a coach that does, who may have them work specific defenses and counters to their opponents' favorite patterns. That's really only helpful if you have dozens of minutes of footage on the opponent, and ample time, as in weeks, to train for it.

Fights are chaotic. You can make an educated guess as to what your opponent will do, but you can't, and shouldn't try to, predict every move from start to finish.

You can get better at responding to attacks by practicing defenses against said attacks in a progressive manner, and focusing on what attacks will be the most common. In wrestling, you know that the single- and double-leg takedowns are the most common takedowns, for instance; in Olympic Taekwondo, multiple round kicks and spinning back kicks are the most common attacks; in BJJ, if you're in someone's guard, the arm bar and triangle are what you should watch out for, and so on.

In an uncontrolled environment, there are certain common attacks, known as the Habitual Acts of Violence (HAOV) in some circles, that are more likely than others to occur. One of the most common attacks is a swing at the head, sometimes accompanied by a push, or a grab to the throat or chest. Other common attacks include tackles, head locks/forearm chokes from the front, side, and rear, low, lashing kicks, or a double-hand grab followed by knee strikes or head butts. But, until the moment the fight kicks off, there's really no way to tell what the opponent will "lead" (open up) with, and variables like height, range, speed, etc. make it virtually impossible to fight all people the same way.

We know that people will fight how they train, more or less, although it will likely be sloppier in application. Those who train to address certain attacks, and train under stress/pressure, will be more prepared for those attacks than someone who isn't. But there's really no way to predict a fight the way that was portrayed in the Sherlock Holmes movies.

Have You Ever Offended Someone By Not Liking Their Music Taste?

Its not like I hate them, I just don’t like their music.
Some people send me links to songs and ask if I like it and if I don’t they get pised and say 'how can you not?' then avoid talking to me.
The major reason is I don’t like modern pop punk music and EVERYBODY love pop punk.
Anyway! Have you offended someone by not liking their music?

BQ: Favourite progressive rock band?
BQ2: 2 favourite Beatles songs?
BQ3: Scariest movie you've seen?
BQ4: Funniest movie you've seen?
BQ5: Hippies, Punks or Goths?
BQ6: Happy, sad or angry music?
BQ7: Have you realised, when asking a R&P question, no matter how many times you use the words 'music', 'rock' or any rock related words, it wont show up in the categories that Y!A predict your question to be in?
Thanks

What Martial Art would you recommend for a short skinny individual?

buy a bat. Watch some baseball games. When you have the swing technique down watch the movie The Warriors.

When you are ready buy a vest(type that zippers or buttons.
Wear no shirt under it(extremely important)
(this is the gi)
Study the language of the stabbing-robot on Futurama. "HAHA hold still HAHA *swings the bat*"
edit: Trust me. NO martial art will help you in a street fight situation against a non-retarded individual. People these days only fight 1 on 1 when they have an advantage (weapon). if not they have a crew hiding behind a bush waiting to ambush you.

lol jiujitsu. Rubbing ur sack on someones elbow wont help you.

OR
Find a crew. LOL no need to know how to fight when the odds are heavily stacked in your favor.
OR
Fill your pockets with sand. Throw it in their eyes. Kick them in the nuts. Then Push them to the ground and TBAG. Total diss.
