What Is Up With My Cat

How Can I Get My Cat To Shut The Hell Up?

Don't let him sleep during the day hun. If you are able to control it, of course, meaning if you or anyone in the house has the chance to actually stay home during the day then it'd be a good idea to just play with him during the day, a lot, so he gets tired at night.

I used to do that with my kitty Abby. when he was little he would do the same to us. The thing is cats have their own schedule. We have to get them accustomed to ours. If he sleeps during the day he wont sleep at night because he's got plenty of energy, right? It makes perfect sense.

What you have to do is try to figure out a way to entertain him and get him busy during the day so he sleeps like a good boy at night. I used to play hard core with Abby, meaning I would even try to get him pissed. I would make him complain and tell me, in his way, to stop. I would even try to get him out of breath by throwing stuff so he could chase them as he loves to play fetch. He'd bring me the toys and already the fifth fetching time he'd be out of breath and ready to lay down. That's the trick my dear.

If you are not able to give him some play time then I'd say get him tired before going to bed, play with him a lot and get him to want to rest.

Good Luck

What should I do after my cat throws up?

Vomiting is a cats way of self-medicating and therefore likely to be self-induced.They do eat some weird and horrible things which makes them suffer, so if they are feeling off-colour, have indigestion or heartburn they will - if they can - go into the garden and eat some grass, otherwise it will be what they can get hold of like your vase of flowers!Shortly afterwards, they will vomit. it is what they do. I have fruitlessly tried to train them to use the litter tray with no appreciable results, they often seem surprised that it has happened - although I suspect that is meant as a cover for their anti-social behaviour.Consequently, if it is an irregular occurrence, and observably contains grass, clean it up, disinfect and leave the poor little beggar to sleep off their discomfort in peace. It happens that cats can be really ill and that often induces evil looking and smelling vomit that is unusual. Pay attention to the cats body language and if it happens again and the cat shows signs of discomfort or unease consider a visit to the vet for an opinion.Anyone with a cat should be able to differentiate between the common upset tummy and illness. The former can be ignored but the latter should be taken seriously with prompt action.

Why does my cat stretch on me?

My cat does this cute little thing where she kind of "walks" up my leg with her front paws, stretches, then slides down it again. It's almost like she's putting her scent on me or something. She does it two or three times in a row whenever I come home from work, or whenever I've been gone for a while. Why does she do this?

My Cat licked a toad and threw up...?

Watch him over the weekend. If you are still concerned about him, no eating, no drinking, etc., take him to the vet.

If he just licked it, he may be okay. Cats will foam at the mouth if they taste something bitter or something they don't like.

If he is acting normally and doesn't show any signs of problems. He'll probably be ok.

How do I stop my cat from waking me up at 5:30 am every day?

Learn to serve at the pleasure of your cat. When your opposable-thumbless friend needs you up, up you go. Seriously, even when you close your bedroom door, a cat that is bent on getting you to open up will stand on the other side for as many hours as it takes to miau you into submission. A mere human can’t out-stubborn, outwit or out-wait a cat; they are known to resist all attempts at training or behavior modification unless they figure it suits their purposes. Generally speaking, like us, a cat will basically do what suits them, when it suits them, in whatever way is suitable for their ends. In my opinion, their independence and self-determination is worthy of emulating. Their perseverance is legendary. They are high caliber companions and expect the same from their housemate(s)—that, my dear, would be you. You may think you chose a cat, you may be under the illusion that a cat is “yours”, but that is not quite accurate. It fails to align with the historical arrangement they’ve had with humans from the get go. A couple of years ago, there was an interesting article on how cats came to live among us. The piece explained that cats decided to “domesticate themselves” to enter human villages looking to escape their predators. When people noticed the ease with which cats kept all kinds of vermin at bay, it became obvious both sides stood much to gain from continuing the arrangement. In addition, kitten litters provided great playmates for the children. In short, “the data shows that cats became domesticated companions of humans without changing much, if at all, from their wild state…”.I was not able to find the article I originally read, but here are a few that explain it better than I have. a) How Cats Became Domesticated/, b) Cats Domesticated Themselves, Ancient DNA Shows, c) Will Purr for Treats: How Cats Became Domesticated, d) Ancient DNA reveals how cats domesticated humans - RedorbitTo wrap things up, be gracious you’ve been chosen and get up already!

Why is my cat trying to climb up the wall?

Everynight when I get home from work my cat starts to meow like crazy. After a while she starts to jump straight up the walls and clawing at them. Does anyone know what is wrong with her???

Am I wrong for not wanting to give up my cat?

My husband and I are moving across country. He is already there as
His mom was having some medical issues. We hav been planning to move there for over a year now to help out. Up until a couple weeks ago it was perfectly fine to bring my cats down but as soon as I purchased my plane ticket they are saying I can't have them. They have helped us get into a house that needs some repairs and I am planning to keep the cats there since they are no longer welcome at their house as we need to stay there until all the repairs are done. However I am now being told that I'm selfish and immature because I won't give up my cats especially after they helped us get a house. I love my cats and I know myself and I would be resentful towards my husband and his parents if I had to get rid of them, I am already a little resentful about it as they led me to believe it was ok for over a year and now they say it was a misunderstanding when it has been brought up multiple times.

Is it a good sign when my cat curls up in my bed with me?

You sound as if you don’t know if your cat likes you or not. When a cat curls up next to you on the bed, it’s a sign that ze trusts you and feels safe with you.If the cat won’t let you pick it up, or sit on your lap or jump up on your lap on your own; the cat may have reasons to distrust people in general not you specifically.Does the cat come to greet you when you come home, or see you off when you leave? If you offer your hand, will ze sniff and lick your hand? Or at least sniff your hand?Does the cat also want to stay with you if you move from room to room?Does the cat let you pet zir? When the cat sees you does ze have the upright tail with a drooping tip making a curve? That means the cat feels happy and interested. All of these events indicate a cat likes you, although you can’t expect any particular cat to do all or even a majority of them. Every cat acts differently toward their parent surrogate.Cats go from friendly to friends once they trust you and like you. This frequently takes far longer than their human wishes it would. So just have patience. Perform the maintenance tasks, offer affection without making the cat feel smothered (if ze runs away, it feels smothered). Eventually the cat will fall in love with you to the extent cats can. Some cats may have had their psyche damaged before you met them, so you have to work with them on their terms.Best wishes that your cat loves you sooner rather than later :-)
