What Is Your Birth Date In Roman Numerals

What is my birthdate in roman numerals?

1997 is MCMXCVII 1000+900+90+7

How do I write my birth date in roman numerals?

I want to get a tattoo of my birthday in roman numerals. My birthday is 08/12/1990. How would I write that in roman numerals?
I looked it up online and what I came up with is this:
VIII.XII.MCMXC = 08/12/1990
VIII.XII.XC = 08/12/90 (Month-Day-Year) shortned year
XII.VIII.XC = 12/08/1990 (Day-Month-Year) shortened year
XII.VIII.MCMXC = 12/08/1990

is this correct?

How should I completely write it out so it is correct when I get it tattooed? And if you're going to leave a comment saying I shouldn't get it then don't waste your time.

Thanks.

What is my birthdate in roman numerals?

12=XII (duodecim) December = December
X=10, I=1; 10 + 1 + 1

17=XVII (septendecim) 17th = septimus decimus
X=10, V=5, I=1; 10 + 5 + 1 + 1

1987=MCMLXXXVII (millie nongenti octoginta septem)
millie = one thousand
nongenti = nine hundred
octoginta = eighty
septem = seven
M=1,000, C=100, L=50, X=10, V=5, I=1
1,000 + 900 (1,000 - 100) + 50 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 5 + 1 + 1

87=LXXXVII (octoginta septem)

The Romans, however, did not reckon dates as we do. They used three days of the month to compute their dates: the Calends (the first of the month), the Nones (the fifth of the month, except March, May, July, and October, when it fell on the seventh), and the Ides (the thirteenth of the month, except March, May, July, and October, when it fell on the fifteenth). (Remember your Shakespeare, "Beware the Ides of March.")

From these points, dates were then reckoned backwards. So your birthdate would be reckoned back from the Calends of January. To make matters even stranger, the day before the Calends is considered the day before the Calends, but the day before that is considered three days before the Calends. Oy! Or, as they say in Latin, heu!

So, your birthday, in Roman nomenclature, is sixteen days before the Calends of January. There are four different ways to express this in Latin. I'll post them as soon as I figure them out.

This obviously isn't easy stuff for us beginners.

Is getting your birth date in Roman numerals a good idea for a tattoo?

If it’s your skin and your idea, you’re probably good. If you mean objectively a good idea, that largely depends on the placement, size and style of the tattoo, among other factors.Your birth date in Roman numerals on your wrist? Forearm? Upper chest? Ankle? Ask yourself if you’ll ever want to be able to cover it at any point in your entire future. For any reason. It’s actually kind of fun to think of the potential scenarios in which you may find yourself in the time you have left on this planet.Your birth date in Roman numerals on your face or neck? Even I’m not that brave, and my left arm is covered from shoulder to wrist (and I work in a corporate environment). Not discouraging, just providing my experience-informed opinion.I’d say that whether or not the subject matter of the tattoo is a “good idea” relies upon the factors mentioned above. I’m a professional writer, and creatives tend to “get away” with more body art these days because it’s almost expected.When it comes down to it, I see it this way: We only get to live in these bodies once. Adorn yourself in art that supplies you with daily happiness (or don’t) as you see fit. Just remember to consider your current and future environment, career, relationship(s), etc. But seriously. Make your body beautiful in any way you like. It’s the only thing that you’ll truly own forever.*One note regarding numerals, characters or script: As long as you provide your artist with an exact image of what you’d like (and double check the purple ink transfer “preview” before he/she breaks out the gun), then you should be good to go as far as accuracy.

Why do they display Roman numerals for the date at the end of movies?

So that it’s not too obvious when it was made in case you might not be inclined to watch it if was several years old. Sneaky, eh?
