My well-known laundry cleansing soap that besides has a fabric softener in it fairly is the single by using Tide. What is your favorite laundry detergent/fabric softener & dryer sheets?

Have you ever considered skipping dryer sheets altogether...they actually cause a gunky build-up in your dryer over time...and switch to fabric softener? I used dryer sheets for years. Still do on occasion. However, I purchased the Downy drop in ball...it's a little plastic ball you fill with fabric softener...about $4.00... and toss it in the washer when you put your clothes in. It automatically releases softener during the first rinse cycle. They are fabulous! And you will not need a dryer sheet. I use Downy 'Lavendar-Vanilla Scent' fabric softener with them. As opposed to dryer sheets that simply leave a scent on the outside of the clothes, the fabric softener seeps into the threads and it stays fresh forever...and no static from the dryer!! My clothes smell great...not too strong...and stay soft for months. Even the stuff I store over winter.

Try it...you'll like it!! I guarantee!! It definitely converted me.

What is your favorite detergent and fabric softner?

Alpine Laundry detergent is my favorite because I don't need fabric softeners. The vegetable based detergent rinses clean and the clothes come out fresh and smelling like clean clothes, not some perfume that was added to make them smell like flowers. If you want your clothes to smell like flowers, wash them with flowers.

Is fabric softener the same as laundry detergent?

No, deter-gent is thinner and slipperier than softener. It foams up in water, and makes suds that get between microscopic fabric strands to clean dirt and sweat from them. Softener is added to the rinse cycles water to coat, and soften fabric, and reduce static. Using softener during the rinse cycle may contribute some to the overall cleaning of fabrics, but using softener alone will not thoroughly clean your clothing. The difference between fabric softener and detergent is similar to the difference between hair conditioner and shampoo.

What laundry detergents and fabric softeners are safe enough to be in water used to feed plants?

Personally, I would use a grey water treatment system, in conjunction with a safe detergent, rather than dumping any water with detergent or fabric softener on my lawn (if I had a lawn). In general the idea of letting loose surfactants on the environment isn't ideal, but some surfactants are worse than others: Fate, behavior and effects of surfactants and their degradation products in the environmentHowever some bloggers give other recommendations.  I haven't done the experiments myself (living in Mauritius our detergents probably aren't available in California) but a bit of googling indicates that some people haven't had significantly negative results with:Trader Joes Chemical Free Detergent - see The Impact Of DetergentOasis Laundry Detergent*ECOS liquid detergent*Dr. Bronners liquid soap**See Angel with Dirty Fingernails - Low Water Landscaping BlogThere seems to be less out there on fabric softener - quite a lot of sites recommending you don't use it for other reasons.Unilever recommend that you segregate your wash cycle water and send it to sewer (or a grey water treatment system) and "Avoid using fabric softener if the final rinse water is to be used for watering."

What's your favorite laundry detergent?

I simply love MelaPower Laundry Detergent and Mela Soft Sofner. They are very affordable and low impact on the enviornment. I only have to use 1/2 an ounce to wash a small to medium size load and 1 ounce for a large load. I get 100+ loads out of one bottle! The fabric softner is great and has not left any stains on my clothing like Downy did. Both are liquid and they are great.

What is your favorite fabric softener?

I don't have a favorite fabric softener. I do have the option to dry my clothes in the dryer, or hung on a line. Most people use softener for towels, but while towels come out soft they have a coating deposited on towels that make them water resistant. Meaning you'll just spread water over your body rather than dry off. Whether line or dryer, no softener lets your towels give you a gentle sloughing of old skin. If you must soften, then a little in the rinse cycle does the trick.

Can you use fabric softener with detergent?

For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/awpIK

It will not hurt your jeans, but the reason you are not supposed to add fabric softener in the wash cycle with detergent is because the softener mixed with detergent causes the soap to not work properly. They are not to be mixed together if you are trying to get your clothes clean. So although nothing bad will happen to your clothes when you do this they are not getting cleaned properly. So you may want to rewash and only add the detergent. Add the fabric softener in the fabric softener compartment on your washer so it's added on the final rinse when it's supposed to. :o)
