Is there anyway to make you mattress softer?
i used to work at a furniture store and this was a problem with some of our customers. I ended coming up with a solution that required little or no money..... there is no way to make it softer unless you do what you said, JUMP. but you can buy (if don't already have one) a deep fitted sheet. Place one of your extra conforters, or any thick blanket underneath and then add the fitted sheet. That should make things a little softer without having to go out and spend another 100.00's of dollars on a new mattress. Good Luck!

Can i use anything to clean my mattress?
Vacuuming is always a good move for a mattress. It'll suck out dead skin cells that are feeding dust mites. (A hepa-filtered vacuum is even better.) As for the surface itself, I'd suggest putting on a mattress cover that can be easily cleaned. They're available on the cheap from most stores like Target, Wal-Mart etc. You can get a plastic one (let it air out before putting it on the bed) if the kids or dog have the occasional accident. That plastic can be wiped down with soap and water. Or you can get a breathable one designed to block allergens if you have respiratory problems. When a cotton mattress cover gets grimy, you just toss it in the wash with your sheets. I would strongly suggest you avoid washes or sprays. Mattresses are very difficult to dry. If you try to wash it, you could end up with wet spots in the middle that mold and mildew instead of drying. As for sprays, most are chemical-based. Do you want your kids and dogs lying on your bed breathing in as many chemicals as possible? Take a look at the warnings on Lysol and other sprays sometime and decide whether you want them in your kids' lungs. Similarly, Febreze doesn't just go away. It binds to smells in a way that makes you not smell them. They're still there and you're still lying in it. It's just masked. Sprays often contain phthalates, a chemical scientists are linking to gender-development problems in boys. (Walgreens' sprays tested so high for phthalates that they pulled them from the market and reformulated them.) The FDA does not require phthalates to be marked as an ingredient when used as a fragrance, and they admit they don't know what effect they have on children and infants. Play it safe. Vacuum and cover.
How do you the scent of mothballs out of a mattress?
You can spray it with white distilled vinegar and then let it dry outside. Vinegar is a great deodorizer and the vinegar smell dissipates as it dries. Or you can dampen the mattress with water. Then sprinkle borax on it. Rub it into the mattress and let it dry. Then brush or vacuum the borax off.

Period.I suggest this to you as I am in the market currently to purchase a mattress myself.I have visited and felt the mattresses kept at the sleep lounges of various brands like Serta, Sealy, Tempur and Sleepwel.The mattress from Tempur was among the best of the lot.
