What Is Your Nick-name Do You Like To Be Called By It Or Not

What nicknames have you been called in your life? Where did they originate?

Well, in the past 23 years of my life, I have had my share of nicknames:Just after I was born, my father named me Juhi after the Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla. She was his favorite actress back then. I do love this name.Juhi is still my official nickname and I am identified by this name among my extended family. When I was in 2nd grade, my friend Navmita used to call me Akudi and I used to call her Navudi. I don’t know if she remembers these now!My cousin calls me Juju (a shortened version of my nickname), because I call her Kunku (a shortened version of her nickname). Yeah, cousins can be crazy at times, to think that even nicknames need to be shortened further!I am called Akku by many of my friends in school, college and hostel because everyone thinks that my name Akankshya is too long to pronounce. My friends at hostel even got me a birthday cake that read ‘happy birthday Akku’ because they were unsure of getting my spelling right.I like being called Akku as it indeed is short and sweet.Back in high school, I was nicknamed AK-47 in the class magazine. There’s a long story behind this name, and it still runs as an inside joke between me and my best friend. My best friend Isha calls me sunlight, as she believes that I light up her life like the sun. This is by far one of the most touching things anyone has ever said to me.She also likes to call me yabo, as it is the Korean name used to refer to a loved one and we both are crazy Korea fans.I love both of these names too. That’s all folks!

Do girls like to be called nicknames?

Yeah, I'd say a most of girls like it. Like a good 8/10 girls.

It makes them feel special because you're not going to be calling other girls nicknames when your dating her are you?

Didn't think so.

Did you feel happy when you are called by a nickname?

I’ve had more nicknames than the number of friends I have!Every person I meet ends up giving me a new name. Either my name is too long to call it out or because it is too mainstream to call the actual name. Whatever be the reason, I am always left with a nickname.Sush, Sushi, Sushmu, Sushmi, Sushu to name just a few!Yes, it makes me happy when they call me with the names they have given me. The tone and the way they call it out makes me happy. If they are happy nicknaming you, why will you be sad about it?Unless..You have a nickname like ‘Susu’Yes, most of them call me as Susu (Funny? :P Not for me! )Hey susu!Wassup susu?So Susu wants to do Susu!! Dude, seriously? Like what are you?I never complained unless it became a habit of getting adressed by it. Nobody wants to be addressed as Susu infront of your crush! Come on people :/So no, I am not ‘always’ happy with the nickname they give me. 99% of the time, I am unless I am called (you know what!)Thanks for reading! The Winged Rhymester!

Do you prefer to be called by your real name, or a nickname?

I think your name and nickname are not only unique, but very pretty(:

I prefer my real name, Danielle, when it's with anyone other than my two siblings. If it's my brother and sister, I prefer to be called by the nickname they gave me when I was really little. All is explained below(:

BQ: What are those names?
~ Dani / Danni, something that an old friend of mine who stopped being friends with me about 4 years ago used to call me (pronounced Danny, of course). It comes from my real name, as you can see(: I didn't mind being called that at first, but then I started to prefer my real name.

~ Dan. I don't mind it; I don't love it nor hate it. My closest friend that's like a sister to me calls me this. I don't know how it happened, one day she just sort of called me it because she didn't like saying my full name and it stuck. Now that's what she calls me by for a few years now, and I've just gotten accustomed to it.

~ Weep. This is what my brother and sister call me (both older; I'm the youngest). They've called me this ever since I was really little, like 3-4 years old, because my sister used to bother me all the time and be cruel to me when I was that little, so I'd cry because she'd hurt me and such. She'd hurt me often, and I cried when she would do so, so I'd cry often. They gave me that nickname because to "weep" is more or less a synonym for "to cry", so that's how I got that, haha... I don't mind it, despite the awful circumstances it was given to me, lol. I've been called that by them basically all my life, so I'm just used to it and it actually feels weird when they call me by my real name because they've just never really done it, except for rare occasions haha.

BQ: Where did the nickname(s) come from?
~ Oops, I accidentally answered those above, sorry ;_; I should've paid more attention... I just sorta "got into it" haha when I was writing above :L

BOYS ONLY!!!: nicknames guys like to be called?

so my boyfriend doesnt like cheesy nicknames like honey or sweetie or pooky bear or that kind of stuff. He like manly ones like sexy beast and that kind of stuff. hes okay with babe and baby. but i want to know what other manly nicknames you BOYS like to be called. THANKS A LOT!!!

Do you have a nickname?

I will start with the most funny one:Bhalo/Bhalobashi : When i moved from Bengal to Punjab and finally Engineering College, slowly people got to know about this.I dont remember how it came about, may be they wanted to learn some words of Bengali to impress the Girls. So, they learnt Bhalo and Bhalobashi. This will be our whole Hostel, 50–60 people. Now Bhalo in Bengali means Something Good and Bhalobashi means i love you.Next thing i knew these were my Nicknames. It stayed like this for 4 years. I never minded because mostly no one really was using it for any actual meaning, it used to just sound funny to me in the beginning but guess what even i became desentized. It just ended up being like any other nickname. So, i had 50 Punjabi guys calling me Bhalo or Bhalobashi. Bhalo was used more as its shorter. And Guess what even now they call me the same whenever i talk to anyone. So there are all these people spread in India and Worldwide knowing these words. That's my contribution in spreading the Bengali Language.RP/Arrpy : This is actually my real home Nickname. My Dad supposedly wanted to name me Rana Pratap based on Maharana Pratap of Mewar. But K ਕ came out as my first letter during Naming, so an abbreviated form RP became the nickname. This Nickname is so ubiquitous that even most of my relatives don't know my real name.Kamal : As ironic as it sounds, when some relative does claim to know me name it's usually Kamal, probably because it's simpler to speak than Kanwal (ਕੰਵਲ/कंवल)It was actually my Grandfather who wanted to name me Kanwal, and he was the only one who called me Kanwal but he is no more. So, now it's left to Poor People here in USA who try to spell my name at best they can, Conwell, Knawel, Kan-wal, Kenwel ,Kanwal and so on.So, throughout my life my original name hasn't been spoken much.

What should be my nickname?

I think ALADINThat's weird for the world, but not for Indians. Thanks

How to get people to start calling you a nickname?

If you like it then go with it. Sign notes to your friends as Nini. I tried to give myself a nickname once and asked my friends to call me that but they never really did. When you meet new people tell them your name is Stephanie but you go by Nini.
