What Kind Of Centipede Is This

What kind of bug looks like a centipede but only has 6 legs, and is able to swim, the length is a quarter

Could be a dragonfly, larvae stage.

What kind of bug is this? A type of centipede?

Sounds like the grub of a detesmid beetle, otherwise known as a "wolly bear". They are roughly teardrop shaped, light brown and covered in bristly hairs. They creep around with six small legs. The grubs and beetles eat dust and any other dry protein material. They won't damage silk or cotton like clothes moths do, but are a terrible nusiance for people with dried butterfly collections. Hence, another name of this insect is the "museum beetle".

What kinds of plants do centipedes eat?

I don't think it matters, as long as it's fairly fresh, it's more a source of water than food. BTW, did you know that they bite, and it's like a spider bite; it hurts, swells, can get infected and take a long time to heal. I would suggest you take it outside and release it.

Centipede in my pee...?

I urge you to see a doctor. Now. Don't walk....RUN!

Can centipedes enter my ear?

Arthropods typically enter the ear canal when a person is lying down and sleeping on the floor and the ear canal is clear of any wax. Yes, ear wax has insect repelling and antibacterial properties. That's the reason why they exist.I have removed numerous arthropods from the ear, common ones being roaches, spiders and large ants. I have not come across a centipede entering the ear yet. They can cause damage to the ear wall and drum when they panic and realise they are stuck. They enter because they can hear tiny sounds produced by the middle ear machinery and when someone is asleep, due to the reduced sensation on the skin, these insects enter only to realise they can't go in any further and cannot come out again. This is when the person gets up and tries to remove the insect and the insect in its protection bites and scratches the ear canal and drum.

Where do centipedes live?

It depends upon the kind of centipede we are talking about,Some live in gardens under rocks or rotting logs, or in leaf litter. There is a large species of centipede that is found in Venezuela and lives in caves, here it preys upon bats. There is still another species that lives in the Amazon Basin also large it is found under rocks and fallen logsThe largest Species of Centipede is the Giant centipede - it can reach up to 18 inches long and is venomous. Found in the jungles of Malaysia and similar areas. There are several different species of centipede - ranging in size from 1cm little ones through to the 18 inch monsters described above. All are venomous to a lesser or greater extent and all are carnivorous. Basically anywhere where their prey species can be found you will find centipedes of one kind or another.

How many legs do centipedes have?

Centipedes have one pair of legs per body segment. The number of segments depends on the kind of centipede.

Giant Centipede vs Snake?

The snake will probably eat the centipede. It depends on what kind of snake of course. Apparently, there are snakes that dine almost exclusively on these giant centipedes. I thought they would both be afraid of each other, but I guess not.

The link is a video of the snake eating the centipede, about half way through.

Are centipedes animals or insects?

They are animals (insects are too), but they are not insects.Animals are divided into vertebrates (birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, fish) molluscs (clams, oysters, octopuses, squid, snails)arthropods (millipedes, centipedes, insects, spiders, scorpions, crabs, lobsters, shrimp)annelids (earthworms, leeches)spongesjellyfishSource: Animal As you might have spotted, centipedes belong to the group of anthropods. Insects belong here too, but if we look into the phylum (group) of anthropods we will find out that they are different things. Centipedes are found in the subphylum of myriapods (meaning: many legs)Insects are found in the subphylum of hexapods (meaning: 6 legs)So let's summarize / TL;DRCentipedes are:AnthropodsMany-legged, unlike insects whom are 6-legged
