What Kind Of Food Should Be Eaten Before A Long Run And How Long After Eating Should Running Take

How long should I wait after eating before running? I don't eat much, only 3 Weetabix with some fruit, and I'm assuming because of my age, my digestive system works fast, but will it cause problems if I wait only around 15 minutes before running?

I'm 52 years old now and one thing I've noticed is that I do much better exercising in a fasted state. So I get up when it's dark, drink some green tea, and then go surf for a couple hours. And then when I get home I don't eat breakfast right away. I need a little time to wind down. If I exercise later in the day I like to have a good three hours of no eating before I exercise. And if I do eat before I exercise it will be a small amount of protein and maybe some fat, like maybe a small piece of chicken breast and pistachios. I've noticed as I've aged, that throwing carbohydrates in my stomach before exercising actually hurts my performance. It also helps that I'm fat adapted, and have been that way for the last 5 years as I drifted towards a high-fat low-carbohydrate diet. Once you become fat adapted you don't need to eat before exercising at all because you can efficiently tap into your fat stores for energy.

What should i eat before running and working out?

im not exactly 100% of how i should eat before and after working out and running.

im 16 and im 5'11'' and i weigh 140 lbs. i workout to get more fit and more in shape.

i run 2 miles 3 days a week. and i curl dumbbells 6 sets of 10 reps. then i try and do 50-100 pushups. (i lift every other day)

im not sure if my eating habits are all that great before and after. there's sometimes when i eat and wait and i have enough energy to run forever. and other times when i can barely run for more than 10 minutes. and lately i started drinking muscle milk which has 25g of protien, but im still pretty confused.

what should i eat before? and how long before?

I suggest you wait at least wait 45-50 minutes. Another good option is to do your exercise before eating.
Fact: My aunt actually contracted some sort of sickness/allergy from eating a certain food and running right afterwards... So I suggest you wait to digest and take your time:)
