Can a family member write a letter of recommendation for you?
A2A.No. A LOR is supposed to be an evaluation of the candidate from an impartial third person recommendor who has known the candidate in some proffessional or academic capacity and is ready to vouch for his or her work,while under his/her supervision. Note that using a family members LOR means, irrespective of the quality of the recommendation and the position of authority that is held by your recommendor, it has that angle of partiality to it and hence, even if your LOR is considered for, it wont be seen in the same light as all other LORs from other candidates. But then again, if you seem to find it difficult to procure your LOR from someone else, then you can go for this as your last resort.P.S:- I myself asked the same to an adcom member and this was more or less what i could make out of her response. How to stop feeling bad about getting kicked out of nhs/cheating?
m a junior and ive been in nhs this whole year until i recently got kicked out because i cheated on a quiz. i know what ive done is unexcusable and im truly remorseful about what happened. im not complaining about getting kicked out because i feel that i deserve this for what ive done even though its the only time ive ever done it. since this is my first/only time with this the school administration was lenient enough to not show it on my transcripts or any of my records when i apply to college next year. so there won't be any evidence that i ever cheated or was even in nhs let alone kicked out. i have other extra curriculars, decent grades and test scores, and ive developed good enough relationships with some of my teachers to write good letters of recommendation about me. I don't know how to move past this. My teacher and parents forgave me and told me to move on. but I am having a hard time forgiving myself. I've been starving myself for days because I'm so depressed about this and the fact that this incident even happened has been haunting me for weeks. How do I stop feeling so guilty about it??

for starters just be a little more calm. this is your teacher we are talking about they have a lot of character and would not try to stop a student from bettering themselves no matter how upset she is. shes probably just really busy getting ready for the finals and everything. No teacher is going to sabotage you over one small thing. youll be fine just talk to her when you get back to school

The National Honor Society is in high school. You are chosen based on grades. In college there are other honor societies like Phi Beta Kappa and honor societies specific to your field of study. If you qualify based on your grades, it would be a good idea to join. The cost is not very much, and it can help on your resume.
