Alka Seltzer or denture tablets. Neither of these will hurt the diamond or the band. I use denture tablets for cleaning my body jewelry and other jewelry that gets crusted. The short answer is that with your naked eye, it's not likely that you can spot a manmade stone versus a natural diamond. Why bother speculating? If you are thinking of buying an item, you should have it appraised. I consider it rude and intrusive to ask someone if their jewelry is "real," so if you have not queried I would advise against it unless you are very close to the person. I have seen numerous people query and get negative reactions from other women as well, so I don't think I am alone in finding a query rude. People close to me don't have to ask as I will share information if they are admiring or interested in acquiring something similar.If you cannot stop speculating, the setting can sometimes be a clue if it's not gold or vermeil as silver can tarnish. Older gold can change colors too, so to an untrained person the setting may mean nothing. There are high quality manmade diamonds set in expensive gold or a platinum and silver blend that look nicer than inexpensive natural diamonds for color and clarity. I have received more compliments on my manmade stones with 100 facets set in 14kt gold than my natural diamonds. They are a realistic size for someone in my station in life, so the size is no clue as to natural versus manmade in many instances. Women who can afford and who have natural stones will often wear manmade too.For safety there are people who have a less expensive replica made of an heirloom or high end piece for wearing on certain occasions. I took nice jewelry to Italy that was well made for example in gold or 18kt vermeil when I knew that I would be in numerous tourist areas and crowds, but I did not travel with my expensive heirloom pieces that could never be replaced. I know the 18kt vermeil on my favorite pieces matches back to the real gold jewelry because of side-by-side comparisons in various lighting conditions by two people with many decades more experience and training than me in the area of gems and jewelry. I would rather wear a bracelet that could be replaced at $200 versus $2000 or more disappearing with a thief. My friend left her expensive wedding set in in a safe stateside and traveled to Italy on the same trip wearing real gold/diamonds that simply cost less, so seeing someone wearing different jewelry even as their wedding set is not always a clue as to what the stones or metal might be.

If you have brown eyes use a lighter brown or purple! That'd be sooo beautiful with black eyeliner! If you have blue or hazel eyes use a golden eyeshadow that shimmers with black eyeliner! Either would work. Use some reddish lipstick/lip gloss and a rose pink blush with shimmer and you'll be gorgeous with some bronzer too! ohhh curl your hair! and wear diamond studs!
