What Makes Someone The Way They Are

What makes someone a "prude"? Why are they the way they are when it comes to sex, nudity, etc?

I understand a lot of it might be values they learned as a child and stuff like that, but not everyone who was instilled good values as a child ends up being so closed and uncomfortable with matters of sex and other things.

What makes someone elegant?

I am happy to answer this question because I (and other people) always called my mother elegant. Today would have been her birthday and I am missing her acutely. Here is why she was considered elegant by me and others:

1. She dressed with flair -- always just so w/ her shoes, purse, and jewelry.

2. She had lovely manners.

3. She was nice to everyone, even very irritating and difficult-to-get-along-with people. She didn't gossip or say mean things behind anyone's back.

4. She never swore or used bad language.

5. She was not a good cook, but she always set a beautiful table so even if we were eating PB&J the table looked nice.

6. In times of great trouble and strife, she maintained a quiet dignity and never complained.

7. She was quick to help other people with moral and financial support whenever she could.

8. She remembered people's birthdays and anniversaries and always sent them cards.

9. She had a great sense of humor and knew how to laugh at life.

10. She was extremely well-read and could have a conversation about almost anything.

11. She bought a sports car, stick shift, when she was 78 years old and drove it until she became too ill to drive anymore.

Rest her elegant soul. Thanks for the opportunity to describe her.

What is the surest way to make someone like you?

Hi ThereThere is no guarantee. But in general I have found that the easiest way is genuine interest in themBe interested and listen. Ask leading questions (what, why, who, when, where, how etc) and listen. Don’t butt in when they are talking. Be really interested. Use their name a few times in the conversation, but not in every single sentence. Smile and use eye contact (don’t stare but look at then for 2–3 seconds at a time). And use open body language - arms open towards them, hands palm up, legs not crossed, head up, body turned towards them, leaning forward slightly. Talk about positive thinbgs. Try to find some common interests, travel, films, hobbies, sport etc.Oh and if you pat your heart with the palm of your hand occasionally as you talk in sentences like “I’m having a really good day today” “I really like that jacket, ear-rings, nail-varnish” You might try mirroring the other person in a subtle way, copy what they do but in a gentle way so its not obvious.Good luck. Write a comment on how you get on. Good luckMike Leahy

What makes someone a hippie? is it the beliefs or the way of life?

i admit it boldly... im a pacifist. i dont think that killing people helps solve problems...but thats just me. i dont do any kind of drugs and im not like a tree hugger... not saying thats a bad thing. i just want to know whether people believe that hippies have to be hippies to the core or if the morals are what really matter in their "labeling"
