What Monologue And Song For Audition We Will Rock You

Good songs for audition/monologue?

Hi! I am a freshman in high school and this year the musical is Footloose. I have decided to audition since I love theater! My audition is next Wednesday, which isn't very far away and I need to decide on a song and monologue for my audition. I would prefer the song to be something from a broadway show/musical since the director is looking for expression. I also need a good website for monologues, or maybe a link to a certain monologue you think would be good for me. By the way I am a girl.
Thanks in advance.

Sound of Music Audition Monologue and Song?

I'm auditioning for The Sound of Music on Wednesday. I need to perform 32 bars of a song, and a monologue that is no longer than 2 minutes. My voice part is an alto-mezzo. I will be auditioning for one of the female roles, preferably Liesl or Maria. I was looking for suggestions about a song to sing or a monologue to perform?

How can I rock this monologue?

Beatrice is the comic relief of the play along with Benedick; she is acts as the contrasting character to Hero, her cousin who is polite, and soft spoken. With Beatrice, you need to portray a lady who is cynical, witty, and hardened by society.

The monologue you posted however shows her vulnerability; she wants and seeks love just like any ordinary lady in the Renaissance society, but she can't find an equal, strong, and compatible match. Benedick, the man who she has her lashes of wittiness with, is someone who has most likely betrayed her trust (it isn't explicit in the play, but I get the notion from the first part of it).

**Recap** - Hero hints at Benedick's liking for Beatrice to her (Beatrice). Now, she is in an emotional twist. Her hardened exterior is softened greatly in this monologue; we finally see the flicker of the sensitive Beatrice capsuled in the hardened mold she holds.

If I were you, I'd say the first 2 lines in disbelief, shock, and awe. Notice the word fire - she is emotional; by this point, the audience realizes her desire for Benedick.

Line 3 and 4 - relief. She now knows the path to take; she is going to change.

Line 5 through 10 - happiness. I would move freely about the stage to showcase liberty from a confined state of being.

It's one of the best romantic comedies to audition for. All the best :).

Sound of Music Audition Monologue/Song Help Please?

I'm not really sure for your monologue.. Try to find something that fits the character. For example, for Maria something playful, loving, energetic, etc. For Liesl do something more sweet and innocent, maybe a little flirty.

As for your song, do something that fits the songs you would be singing in Sound of Music. For example, for a Maria audition you could do "I Could Have Danced All Night" from My Fair Lady, or something else that is Julie Andrews, or Julie Andrews style. I think "I Could Have Danced All Night" is probably your best option.

Hope I helped!

Best Song to sing for a Moulin Rouge audition?

First of all, I hate that musical, but I *am* familiar with the soundtrack. Satine sings 3 songs that I know of, one of them from another musical: "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" from "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes", famously sung by Marilyn Monroe. The two original songs I'm aware of that she sings are the duet "Come What May" and her solo "One Day I'll Fly Away". I really don't recommend singing a song from the show, so try some other songs from jazz/cabaret musicals like "Chicago" and "Cabaret". I feel like "Roxie" from the former would showcase Satine the best if that's the role you are going for. Break a leg!

Where can i find a good audition monologue for the musical Bye Bye Birdie?

You might want to use a monologue from another musical. If you are auditioning for Kim or Suzie, I'd look at the matrerial from these shows:

Aida (Aida, Amneris)
Flower Drum Song (Mei Li, Linda)
Footloose (Ariel, Wendy)
Grease (Sandy, Frenchy)
Hairspray (Tracy, Penny)
High School Musical (Gabriella, Sharpay, Taylor, Kelsi)
Into the Woods (Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red)
Little Shop of Horrors (Audrey)
Mamma Mia! (Sophie)
Miss Saigon (Kim)
The Fantasticks (Luisa)
The Sound of Music (Liesl, Louisa)

The monologue should definitely be Contemporary Comedic. If you don't want to do a monologue everyone else is doing, you'll definitely want to avoid "Mr. Cornell" from Neil Simon's "Star-Spangled Girl". I think I have the perfect monologue for you. E-mail me! Break a leg!

An audition song for Kiss Me, Kate?

My theatre school is doing Kiss Me, Kate and Little Women and I need a song that is good for both. I am a 15 year old mezzo-soprano. Our director likes it when we audition from the show and I was wondering what songs would be good, preferably from Kiss Me, Kate? Girls will end up getting cast as boys, so some men songs would be alright too. Thanks!
