What Movie Is This I Think It

What movie did you last watch? What did you think of it?

Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008)Oh goodness, I’ve been on the heaviest movie binge in my life and must have watched more than twenty movies in the last week. This movie is good. It’s not especially special- but it’s good. Very Neo-Woody-Allenesque, very down to earth and with a tiny bit of cinema verite. It didn’t particularly blow my mind, but the particular, overall ambience of Woody Allen movies now affirms him as one of my favourite directors ever. It’s a very beautiful and nuanced movie- definitely worth watching.(And I used to be impartial to Spanish language and culture- but after this and Narcos, I’m all for learning Spanish after Japanese. Damn, that language is beautiful.)But allow me to suggest - not a movie and not the last thing I watched- but I don’t want to do a disservice to humanity by not recommending this.Wolf Hall (2015)This is one of best fucking series I’ve ever watched. It’s slow. It’s a slow burner, with literally very little light. It’s sparing, and mellow in places. And it’s bloody fucking brilliant.I’ve read and completely enjoyed the original novels by Hillary Mantel- her writing is acquired taste- but this show just translates the novel so brilliantly and goes beyond. This is historical drama, not those Borgias or The Tudors or Reign crap.I’m transitioning into the “less drama more meaning” church in movies / TV lately, and this series (plus The Crown) completed my conversion. I’m going to evangelize this series to everyone who will listen for the next few weeks or so, it’s that good.

What do you think of when you hear the word "movie"?

Well, my mind is blasted by all kinds of movies that I've seen, such as maybe horror or fantasy. I think of the couple of foreign films that I have seen, such as Pan's Labyrinth and City of Lost Children. As for live action adaptations of anime, I'm immediately weary and wondering if it'll be any good. I enjoyed the Black Butler one, even if “Ciel” is a girl and takes place in the future instead. Then there are movies like Silent Hill and Resident Evil, based off a popular video game series. While most people didn't enjoy them, I sure as Hell did. When they made the second Silent Hill movie, I really didn't care too much about it. The first one was a lot better, exploring the town of Silent Hill much more.Lastly, I think of movies such as Marley and Me and A Dog's Purpose. You don't want to watch them for a long time, as it hits close to home.

What movie is this? I Think it's a scary movie?

Scary Movie 3 (2003)
IMDb quote:
Mahalik: [to the Aliens] So, if they're friendly, then how come they choke us a few minutes ago?
Alien #1: Oh, that's how we say hello.
George: Then how do you say good-bye?
[the Alien kicks him in the crotch]
George: Oooh... I had to ask...
Alien #1: If you think that's unusual, then you should see how we pee.
[he starts peeing out of his finger]
President Harris: Oooooh, we are not so much different after all...
[the President starts peeing out of his finger also]

What movie is this? I think it's Peter Pan?

I remember watching a movie when I was little about a family hiding in a bomb shelter while getting bombed. I distinctly remember Nana (the dog) from Walt Disney's adaption of Peter Pan wearing an army helmet and dashing about. It took place in the bomb shelter (like I said) and the mother warned the children of an upcoming bomb as it landed somewhere nearby. The children asked about if they're father was alright (I believe he was in the armed forces) constantly. I can't tell if I made this up or not, but it is definitely not how the real movie starts, nor how the alternate opening is. Perhaps it was removed from the film for the sake of the Walt Disney Company? If its not Peter Pan do you have any idea what movie this could be? It was definitely a cartoon.

What movie is this? I think its a movie, I could be wrong.?

All i remember is this short but gross and hilarious tidbit. Some guy goes into a 7/11 or a similar convenience store gets a slurpee, a slush puppy, whatever you want to call it. Goes outside and scratches his butt with two of his fingers and then holds his drink with said hand. Walks back in, and says he wants a new one because this one tastes like crap. The store clerk smells the drink but because his butt scratching fingers are holding the drink the store clerk agrees that it tastes like crap and offers him a free slurpee, slush puppy, etc.

What do drummers think of the movie Whiplash?

Whiplash Got It All Wrong!Movies about musicians offer musical approximations that usually satisfy in inverse proportion to a viewer’s devotion to the actual music behind the story. Whiplash turned out to be one such example. From past 6 months, I was being suggested to watch Whiplash because my friends thought I would love it. My MustWatchMovies list was so long that today, I finally watched it after 6 months of being told about it for the first time. You guessed it right from the title of this blog, I didn’t like the movie, let alone loving it. Miles has done a credible job of playing the protagonist. I really liked Terence Fletcher’s role as the authoritarian leader of the school’s concert band and an ostensible career maker. And ironically, this is the same place where I lost the movie.I don’t know the claims of director and producer for this movie. But if they had claimed to make a movie to show the real behind the scenes of a music school, it’s astonishingly far from reality.Smacking somebody's face on beat four.Instructor throwing the floor tom just because of the slow tempo.Trying to raise the capability to increase the tempo by trying to play as fast as possible and forgetting the fuck about music.Instructor classifying musicians as core members and alternates and asking the alternates to clean off the blood shed by core.I have been professionally trained in music. I have enough background in Music theory and percussion instruments to vouch for the process of learning music and what’s the real meaning of musicality. It’s really sad that Whiplash got it all wrong. It's never about pursuing a kid to get faster till the time he/she bleeds. This is what leads to burning out and eventually leaving the thing you actually loved and could have done so much better, had you been blessed with a fine instructor.Stopping rehearsal every two seconds to address tempo. I mean really?Increasing the tempo involves getting the metronome up and gradually increase it till the time it goes to the muscle memory. It can never be increased in 30 minutes with instructor sucking the blood out of your head.If the movie really wanted to promote perseverance and hard work, music wasn’t a very good choice of topic for that. That’s what I feel. Music is an art.Go-you-motherfucker-suck-on-that-drum-throne attitude simply doesn’t work in music.Nevertheless, movie was fun to watch but I felt the principles being showcased to be insanely wrong.
