What animal would you choose as a pet, and what name would you give it?

Rear Admeral Grace HopperAfter this amazing woman:Also because, as an engineer, I have naming conventions for nearly everything. Including pets. Ours is scientists. Grace Hopper was an amazing computer scientist. Wrote the first compiler, worked on the UNIVAC, and was an Admeral in the United States Navy. The pet I would choose would be a Welsh Corgi:They are all very energetic and lively, and with them little legs are always hopping up-and-down. The name “Hopper” seemed doubly appropriate.

What music artist name should I choose?

Well, there’s a few ways to approach this:Pick a quick, memorable and catchy name that will capture folks’ attention and that people won’t forget. This is good if you have a name that’s hard to pronounce (Demetri Ellus is pretty straightforward, and a nice name I might add!) or if you want to be really marketable if you’re playing fairly mainstream-style popular music. Perhaps it’s a reference to where you’re from, or something you like, something that inspired you to make music. Something quick, catchy, memorable and personalized to help people remember you and establish your identity in their minds.Go with your middle name as your last name. This is a fairly common way to pick stage names- actors, TV/radio personalities, musicians, entertainers of all types do this. Sometimes it’s to differentiate themselves from other famous people with the same name. Ray Charles used his middle name so he wouldn’t be confused with Sugar Ray Robinson. Sometimes it just rolls of the tongue better than a last name.Just use your real name and let the music speak for itself. If your music is really good, people will find out who you are regardless of what you call yourself because they want to hear you! If Demetri Ellus has the hottest track of 2016, people are going to run to buy the next Demetri Ellus album.I guess it all depends on the genre, but these days pop artists see all manner of names and aliases. In the end, I don’t think people will really care what you’re called as long as your music is good. If there’s anything you SHOULDN’T do is pick something outright offensive. Perhaps something with a four-letter word can generate shock value and certainly catch people’s attention, but it’ll also alienate a lot of people who won’t want to listen to it with their kids in the car, and it’ll make it hard for radio deejays to announce who you are. But hey, to each their own, and I’m sure you’ll find the solution to fit your needs! Best of luck, Demetri!

I'm trying to choose a middle name with meaning?

I love Clara, too. My husband and I have decided that it will probably be our first daughter's name (after his great aunt). It's old-fashioned and not very common, but it fits in stylistically with a lot of the names that are popular today.

I also agree with you that middle names should have meaning. After all, very few people will know your child's middle name, so if you're using one you may as well make it meaningful.

Clara Novalie -- I don't recommend Novalie, as it comes from a movie about a pregnant teenager who gives birth in Walmart.

Clara Abigail -- Like it! Abigail is actually very "in" right now, so this doesn't sound too old-fashioned. My second favorite name from your list.

Clara Audrey -- I love both names, but I don't think the flow of this one is right, as both names are two syllables with the stress on the first syllable.

Clara Elaine -- Love it! These names flow really well together, and I like that Elaine is meaningful to you. It's my favorite name from your list.

Clara Kaitlyn -- I'm not crazy about the repeated c/k sounds at the beginning of each name.

Clara Emily -- Like it! It's my third favorite on your list, right behind Clara Abigail.

I don't really like Kadence. It's pretty trendy, especially with the K spelling, so I'm afraid it's one that won't sound so cute in a few years' time. (Names, likes clothes, go in and out of style, and the ones that are the trendiest end up seeming the most unfashionable later on.) You might instead consider:

Helena Katherine (HEL-in-uh; variations of Elaine and Katie)
Katherine Elena (uh-LAY-nuh; another variant of Elaine)
Katya Elaine (Russian diminutive of Katherine)
Katharina Elaine (Shakespearean version of Katherine)
Eleanor Kate (Eleanor sounds like Elaine; Kate comes from Katie)
Audrey Katherine (good choice for a second daughter if you're using Clara Elaine as the first)

Good luck, and I hope this helps!
