Match of the Day equivalent for NBA?

There's only two games tonight with Portland VS Utah and Boston VS Chicago. Boston and Chicago would be the featured match up of the day. Chicago is the1st seed and Boston is the 2nd so it's going to be a great game a possibly a Eastern Conference Finals matchup.

How many times does one team in the NBA play another in a regular season?

A regular NBA season has 82 games, i.e. each team plays 82 games. (Case: LA Clippers)Conference level - 30 gamesA conference has 15 teams. A team plays each opponent from the other conference in one home game and one away game. So, 2 games x 15 opponents = 30LA Clippers play 30 games against teams from the Eastern ConferenceIntradivision level - 16 gamesThere are 6 divisions with 5 teams each (30 teams total). Each team plays each opponent of the same division 4 times (twice at home, twice away) for a total of 16 games. So, 4 games x 4 opponents = 16LA Clippers play 16 games against teams from the Pacific DivisionInterdivision level - 36 games A team plays against each team from the other two divisions in its conference either three or four times. So, 3(4) games x 10 opponents = 36LA Clippers play 36 games against teams from the Southwest Division and Northwest DivisionIn total,30 games at the conference level+ 16 games at the intradivision level + 36 games at the interdivision level -------------82 gamesSource: National Basketball Association rivalries

Who will win if the Celtics and 76ers play each other?

i think the celtics will win, i really dont think that the 76ers are that great of a team and i cant find the statistics but the 76ers have dropped after the all star break and have not played good basketball while the celtics have been on fire. the only reason why the 76ers are winning is no derrick rose or noah last game. celtics will take it.

If Golden State and Cleveland play again the NBA Finals, will it be a history breaking matchup in terms of most consecutive times teams have played in a championship?

The record has already been broken. No team has played each other in the Finals for 3 consecutive years let alone 4 years which will be the case if the GSW defeat the HOU in Game 7 tonight at the Toyota Centre. If LeBron ends up playing the Warriors once again, the Cavs have an even lower chance of winning than last year. A sweep is very likely because “The King” has virtually no support on offense and while the Cavs are playing good defense compared to the regular season, they have no chance at stopping 4 superstars and a bunch of excellent role players.

Why does the NBA have games on Christmas Day?

Not only does the NBA have Christmas Day games, it purposefully schedules high-profile and marquee match-ups -- e.g. a Finals rematch between the Warriors and Cavs this year. Why? Because the NBA is in the entertainment business. Xmas is a time where people get together, and will naturally tune into exciting sports events as a group activity. This leads to higher TV viewership, which translates into more advertising revenue for the League -- not to mention the actual sales from people attending the game live (ticket prices naturally surge).

Why are there 82 games in an NBA season?

First of all, there are not 40 teams, but rather 30 teams, with 15 teams each in both of the two conferences (Eastern and Western) and 5 teams in each of the six divisions. The 82-game season allows for each team to play their divisional opponents four times a year, six other teams from the same conference four times a year, the remaining four conference opponents three times a year, and the fifteen teams from the opposing conference twice a year. Rather confusing, isn’t it?The 58-game schedule detracts the usefulness of the divisions and decreases the popularity of rivalries. The players may be angry about the pay cut and having to play more minutes (less games means more playing time for important players).
