What Organs Can You Donate While Alive

Can I donate all my organs while alive?

If the donor is alive and wants to donate heart and is ready to donate, can he/she donate the heart? No. It would require the physician to commit murder. Only organs that still leave the donor alive after surgery can be donated such as the ones that come in pairs (kidney, lungs) or regenerate (liver, blood)[1] .Transplant Living | Facts | Frequently Asked Questions https://transplantliving.org/bef...Source: Organ Donation Awareness ProgrammeSource: :::Mother Teresa:::Footnotes[1] What Organs Can Be Donated and Transplanted

If your alive can you donate a vital organ?

You can donate a kidney or a lung because you have two of them. You can donate part of your liver, or some bone marrow. No reputable doctor would ever perform a heart transplant from a healthy living donor because that would be murder. A few years ago there was a story in the news about someone who committed suicide outside a hospital leaving a note saying he wanted to donate his heart to someone (his brother, I think) but he had been dead too long by the time his body was found. That poem or song is fiction, not reality. I don't know of any real-life cases where someone voluntarily donated a heart successfully.

How do you feel about donating an organ while still alive?

Honestly it creeps me out a little bit. There are basically two organs as far as I understand (kidney, part of your liver) plus marrow and/or blood that you can donate while still alive and honestly I am not the healthiest person with the healthiest habits. I’m not sure anyone would want my kidney or part of my liver even if I was not on this mortal coil. But in general I think that anything you can do within reason to help somebody else in need is a good thing. So yes is theory but kind of squicked out when it comes to personal experience.

Which parts of my body (organs, fluids) can I donate while I'm still alive? In what intervals without experiencing long-term damage to myself?

All donation of organs have risks and its effects. However, some are a lot safer than others. Here they are:Blood donation. Takes about fifteen minutes a session, and you loose a pint of blood, or there about. You are usually fine after drinking some fluids, and resting for a good day or two.Plasma donation. Similar to blood donation, but only the plasma of the blood (the liquid part, not the cells) is donated. It can take to up two hours a session, but the blood cells themselves are placed back into your bloodstream.Bone Marrow donation. Can be a bit more painful, and has more risky. Usually requires a short stay at a hospital. They will remove bone marrow from your bones. Mhm. That simple. The procedure is performed under anaesthetic, and usually requires you stay as an outpatient, or possibly an inpatient. The following, you can do once:Kidney donation. An inpatient procedure that removes one of your kidneys. It carries more risk, but it still quite safe. Afterward, it is advisable you no longer drink alcohol, or engage in strenuous exercise.Liver donation. You may donate a lobe of your liver while alive, though it doesn't happen often. You will be under general anaesthetic, and it carries the same effects as kidney donation. If you want to donate as much as possible, become a regular blood donor (or plasma. You can either do one or the other), and regularly donate bone marrow. You will get a nice certificate of thanks after you donate a certain amount of blood/plasma. You can also gain a donor card, and sign up for every single piece of tissue you have.

If you donate your organs after you die, are you biologically still alive?

Your problem concerns with personal identity i.e. what makes you you? Your thoughts, feelings, beliefs etc makes you unique. And your brain contains all this in form of a really complex network of neurons. So, if you donate one of your kidneys and you are still alive, would the other person be you? NO. Same can be said for any other part/ organ of your body. Once your brain is out cold, you are dead. But when you donate your organs, you give a new life to someone else and remain alive in there thoughts while you rest in peace.

Does donating ones organs hurt?

I read a story where this girl had donated her organs and when the doctors thought she was dead, Then they cut her open to take her organs and she was still alive. So needless to say they stopped. But my question is this. If you want to be a donor then how do they cut out your organs while you are still alive or do they? I am just asking because I have always wanted to know. Thanks a lot for your answers. Have a blessed day.
