What Paint Color Goes With Grey Carpets

What wall color would go well with a grey carpet?

Taupe goes great with grey. They are mixing those colors on HGTV decorating shows. They are also mixing some black furniture and the accessories are blue/aqua and sometimes red. I think you should paint your kitchen the aqua/blue for a little more color. You'll find a lot of curtains/drapes have these colors. Pick your curtains and drapes before you pick your paint. You can match paint with any fabric that way. Bring some paint chips home and see how well they go with the grey rug and your home is going to look very cohesive. Good paint stores actually have people come to your house and help you pick the right color. Benjamin Moore stores do this for free. Good luck

Neutral tones are especially practical in the world of decoration because their neutrally means they can easily be teamed up with other colors. Warm colors make a room seem smaller and more homey, a place where we can retreat to unwind.

There are many techniques for increasing the expressiveness of the walls and for making your home a place where you feel at ease. Many neutral tones are associated with natural materials, stone, earth, wood, straw, sand or with artificial materials such as metal, glass, and concrete.

Here are ten household helpful hints for choosing colors and wall covering fabrics to decorate your home:

1. White and neutral tones are an ideal backdrop to make a work of art or tapestry stand out.

2. Neutral tones should be applied when a space is overloaded architecturally, or when we want something to fade into the background.

3. Neutral tones age well so they can be used where you do not redecorate, or touch up, very often; or if our intention is to specifically create an aged effect.

4. Variations on neutral tones are ideal for small rooms.

5. White and neutral tones are a great way of combining different decorative styles as they act as a neutral transition zone between one style and the other.

6. Gray metal or gray concrete, two neutral tones, are especially apt for creating modern ambience with a cutting edge feel.

7. Textured neutral tones, like limestone or temperate paint, are perfect for creating rustic effects.

8. Neutral tones fabrics, carpets, curtains, or tapestries are a great help when decorating because they go well with al the colors.

9. If you want a room steeped in neutral tones to be livelier, you can introduce a few dramatic color touches dark colors, even black, are a good solution.

10. A neutral tone is perfect for painting a wall or doors that you want to be inconspicuous.

What color walls look good with a red carpet?

You can stick with neutral shades of cream, and white, but they can be a little stark against the red carpet. Light shades of tan, taupe or grey work very well and create a softer look. You could opt for a monochromatic theme. You could use different shades of red, to the red of the carpet. As an example, you might have a brick red carpet, and use a wine wall paint, or vice versa. This is quite a strong look, and good for areas like dining rooms, and possibly better in larger rooms with a lot of large windows to lighten the look. You can use an analogous theme, which might mean you using a warm gold, or peachy orange. Tangerine creates quite a warm, bold look. You could go for a complimentary theme too. Green is red’s complementary colour, sitting opposite on the colour wheel. To avoid a Christmas cracker look, you could use sage green with cool reds, and olive greens, with warm reds. For a contrasting look you can use blue, or even of purple as long as you stick with cool, or warm shades in correspondence with the carpet. A deep slate blue would go well with a cool berry red. A warm brick red could be teamed with a very pale shade of aqua blue. For purple, a cool pastel shade of lilac could be used with berry reds, and for warm reds, a very deep strong hue of purple would work. This would create a very dramatic, and bold look though, perhaps best in rooms with a great deal of light and not the main living space.A few examples below.

What color do you paint walls to downplay dark mauve carpet?

Whatever you do, STAY AWAY FROM ANY COLOR THAT HAS YELLOW IN IT!!! That includes a beigy-yellow. Yellow is the complementary color of purple and this will make your purple stand out like crazy!

The color I suggest is called greige. It is a neutral color that is a mix between beige and grey. During the day is looks like a taupe beige and at night, looks like grey. It's stunning. This will downplay the mauve. Add black and silver accessories and you'll soon love your new space.
