What Pays More In The Civilian World Ctt Or It Experience

How is the Cryptologic Technician (Technical) CTT rating in the navy?

right now it's 100% advancement. I'm envious. Basically, if you come in and learn your rate, do your time and rate and then take the test, you're 99.9% guaranteed to make it at least as a 3rd. They will send you where ever they need you, you won't get to choose, unless you make top of your class in A school and then you'll get first pick of the orders. For job ops in the civilian world you can work with the FBI, CIA, Secret Service, Intelligence, the options are limitless. As far as cross rating, it depends on your ability to comprehend, I'm an Aviation Electricians Mate and I have been in my rate for 10 months and there is still a lot I don't comprehend. You will gain that with work experience as you make rank and learn your job. Aircrew is the same, they're either rated AE, AM, or AD, so I'm sure that the transition for them would be tough, too. First, you have to be approved for cross-rating and furthermore, if the job is not in demand, they most likely won't even approve you to cross rate to CTT. Sea tours vary from 4 months to a max of 6 months, typically for aviation dets, but for CTT, it would be cake because you guys have your own room because all of the information is classified and to top it off it's air conditioned!!! Imagine that on a ship, it's paradise. Make sure that you maintain good credit, no convictions, no trouble with the law and that you pay your bills on time and you could very well become a CTI, CTN, CTR, CTM, etc. Good luck.

I received a 95 on the ASVAB. How can I use it to benefit me?

I went to MEPS yesterday and scored a 95 on my ASVAB. I initially wanted to go into the Navy as a legalman (since I plan on attending law school in the future). My recruiter told me that the legalman probably wasn't going to be available, and to look at being a cryptologic technician. Well, I took the DLAB and completely bombed it (maybe it was due to the fact that I'd been at MEPS all day and was just tired. Maybe it was just that the test was too hard for me--I don't know). But, for whatever reason, I didn't pass the DLAB.

What are some jobs I should consider in the Navy and how can I use my ASVAB to help me get what I want (or can I use it to help me get what I want)?

The Army recruiters seemed like they would give me anything I wanted with my ASVAB score, but the Navy is not being so generous to me.
