Should i tell my boss i'm interviewing for another job? or wait until after i get a job offer?

i've been at this job four almost four years and treated well. i like my boss so i feel like i "owe" it to him to let him know i've put my resume out and am interviewing for other jobs.

do i really need to tell him? or should i just do the interviews without telling him and then if the interviews go well and i get a job offer and it's better than what i have now and i want to accept the offier i just drop the two weeks notice on him?

Quit Target about a year ago without notice and have an interview with another?

I stopped showing up for work one night for personal reasons with my co workers. Its been about a year and I lined up another interview with a different target tonight. I tried to get other target jobs, but when I called the other ones I was rejected right away over the phone. I called a different one today and have an interview tonight. Is it possible to slip under the radar?!?!

How to tell your boss you have interview at another job?

The reason why i'm finding another job to work at is because this car wash place isn't giving me enough hours also scheduling is terrible. Only a few days i work at least 2 hours and the other days isn't even 8 hours. I thought this job was going to be full time because i was considered it but i'm not. I'm still new to this car wash place and i don't know what their doing. Also i didn't mention that they tell you to leave rather than leaving at your assigned time which they didn't include so tomorrow i'll be working at 10 and i have to tell my manager that i'll be leaving at 3 so i can get prepared for the interview at 4. How do i tell my manager about this?

Apart from obvious things, any suggestions for phrases/comments to avoid?
