What Should I Take To Capture Memories On My Volunteer Trip To Africa

My sister will be away this Christmas volunteering in an Ebola lab in Sierra Leone. What can I get her as a present that would make her time there happier, healthier or safer?

I'm not sure you can make her healthier or safer (I'd hope that the agency she's volunteering with has taken care of that!). But to make her happier... I'd make her a virtual gift (assuming she has reasonable internet connection and a way to access it) that takes her friends and family to her for Christmas. If you have access to photos of her friends and your family (Facebook is a great source), call or email each of them and ask one simple question - "What is that you'll miss most about this Christmas?" Or - "What's one story that captures the spirit of and who she is in the world?"Then use a simple, free program like PowToon to create a short animated video for her. There are tips for making one of these special videos at Home - MemWow!. Disclaimer: I do this for clients. MemWow is my fun side project.

Where would you like to travel to when you are free? Why?

The Last MileOver the course of my 14 year incarceration, I've collected a few postcards of places I'd like to travel to once I'm released. Places like Texas, Hawaii, New York, Puerto Vallarta and even Australia have all adorned the walls of my cell at one time or another. However, the life sentence that still looms over me tends to cast a big shadow over any future plans I may have. Even when I do regain my freedom, any traveling I do will be limited to a 50-mile radius from my place of residence while on parole. One of the first places I'd like to go when I get out will be to take a dip in the Pacific Ocean. I've always loved the beach and have spent a lot of good times in places up and down the California coast. It's definitely one of the places I miss the most being in prison.I used to subscribe to Surfer magazine so I could still catch a glimpse of the sun setting behind glassy waves. My cellie Red from Long Beach paroled about a week ago after spending 25 years in prison. I heard when he got out they went to Stinson Beach and he dove in the frigid water head first. I can only imagine the rush he must have felt after being away for so long. With a tear in my eye, I wished my friend the best on his journey. I'm still looking forward to my chance to wash away the tension and frustration of prison with a baptism by the beach. All communications between inmates and external channels are facilitated by approved volunteers since inmates do not have access to the internet. What were the consequences of the 1916 Easter Rebellion?

In your research type in the phrase “blood sacrifice 1916” and see what comes up.

On Easter Monday, April 24, 1916, a force of Irishmen under arms estimated at between 1,000 and 1,500 men and women attempted to seize Dublin, with the ultimate intention of destroying British rule in Ireland and creating an entirely independent Irish Republic to include all 32 counties of Leinster, Munster, Ulster and Connaught. Their leaders, Patrick Pearse, James Connolly and the others, knew that their chances of success were so slight as to be almost non-existent. Yet they fought, and died. Why? More………
