What Should I Title My Short Story

What should be the title of my short story?

What, or who is your story about?Every book in the Harry Potter series is 'Harry Potter and...' Personally I think that Rowling's titles are too long, but she's sold a lot of books!I wrote a story about a Grandmother who was a monster in disguise. She ate her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at the end of the story. I called it 'Grandma' Short, and to the point.Dashiel Hammett was great at story titles. Howard bibliographyIn my opinion, the best titles are short, and to the point. Too many words can ruin a title. The shorter, the better. But your title should make sense to someone who reads the story. If they don't 'get' the title after reading your story, the title is a failure. Also you want to get the reader's interest. With a short story your title is the first hook, then the first 2-3 paragraphs are your next hook. If the title doesn't get the reader, than the story doesn't matter. You have to hook them.But...Sometimes long works. Samuel R. Delany wrote a story titled, 'We, in Some Strange Power’s Employ, Move on a Rigorous Line' and because it was written by him, I read it. It's a good story. So is 'Time Considered as a Helix of Semi-Precious Stones'.Roger Zelazny wrote 'A Night in the Lonesome October' and it was a Nebula Award nominee. But both Delaney and Zelazny were well know writers. They could get away with odd titles. Can you?

I NEED A TITLE FOR MY SHORT STORY!!!!!?

Need a title for my WW2 short story?

I'm writing a somewhat fictitious WW2 black comedy short story and I need a good title for it.

The story is written in five chapters - four different perspectives and a 'grand final', explained:
1. A group of Nazi generals - nicknamed as the 'Eagle Squad' - are planning a secret invasion to North America.
2. A group of independent* American soldiers - nicknamed as 'All Liberty' - are after the Eagle Squad who are responsible of a submarine attack on an American military ship, killing all aboard.
3. A Soviet group - nicknamed as the 'Great Red' - are after the soldiers of All Liberty after they invaded and looted a Soviet-occupied German village.
4. A Finnish guerilla-style assassin - nicknamed by All Liberty as the 'White Death' - hunting and killing any Soviet soldier/general as a revenge for Winter War (google if interested).
5. The Grand Final, which pretty much focuses on these four meeting and fighting; Great Red arrives in the city where the Eagle Squad is hiding. A shootout begins which All Liberty later joins. During the battle, the only Soviet general in Great Red is abducted - with no effect to the battle. At the end, when nearly everyone is dead, the story ends with the Soviet general taken to a nearby forest and shot dead by the White Death.

*independent as in, not part of any unit etc.

Plot might be a little complicated but I'm only writing it to myself . Can't come up with any good title so I'm open for suggestions. Thanks! ^_^

What could be a good title for my short story?

A good title always comes from the story itself. A fun story with a little humor in it, deserves a tongue-in-cheek name; while something more serious and moving, looks much better with a dignified, well-though title. Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" wouldn't have been nearly as popular if it had been called "Three Ghosts and an Old Miser". Without actually reading the story, and being able to take the temperature of it's mood, it's hard to just give it a title, off the cuff.

Based on what information you have given, I'd go more with something more like, "Even Thieves Have Feelings." "Cold Comfort" might also work, because it combines a word classically associated with jails, while hinting at the plot. "Cold Stone Blues" might do, for the same reasons, depending on the argument involved.

WHats a good creative title?

Good title for this SAD Short story!?

I would name it "Thorn" only because of the symbolism of the red rose. Short title for short story? Or maybe, "Rose Heart" "Thorn Heart" "A Growing Nightmare" "Misfit Dream"

Could someone give me an apt and witty title for my short story on a pollutant and review it to help me refine it?
