How do you write upbeat acoustic guitar songs?
Find a good mood and wing it! Keep the minor chords to a minimum unless you want to create a resolution that stands out. Modulating the chord progression is also a good add on. If you modulate, revert back to the original chord forms to create a sense of resolution.(Modulating the progression means to bring the progression up a notch or two by keeping the same chord sequence but in a different location.)

It was spoilt slightly because it was't confident or precise (the guy was looking at his hands not the camera.)To do an acoustic cover you are stripping a song down to its basics: a sung melody and basic acompaniment, with perhaps a touch of bass and the odd (softer riff)This is good providing the song is well-written. Crap songs that rely on riffs and gizmos just get worse.You can do reasonable versions of big production numbers (I've done acoustic "Nights in White Satin, Hey Joe and Freebird".Even a song like "I'm a believer" without the Moog synthesiser can be done.My favourite acoustics have been ironic versions of female songs "I'm not that innocent" sounds psycho unless Britney Spears does it.Songs that can't be done acoustically because of the vocal:Call Me by Blondie, or any Debbie Harry song.
