What Sort Of Job At Walmart

Should I quit my job at Walmart?

I need a few more opinions/viewpoints on the matter, if you don't mind taking the time to answer!

So I've been at Wally World almost ten months. It started off good, but the moment we moved to our Supercenter it's been hell in a big, over-sized box. I'm a hard worker. I like earning my wage, but I feel like they're taking advantage of me.
Things are changing for the worse. People are having to go head to head for positions to keep their pay (while the assistant managers received a subtle raise) and every day I talk to at least five people who mention that they're thinking of quitting. It's a toxic environment. We're so understaffed that I know almost every job in the store and spend my time covering breaks while my own responsibilities go undone till the last minute -- in a hurried panic. Yet.. they keep overstaffing Electronics. WTF?
Needless to say, my work place is quickly going down the drain. My department manager told me the other day that I could actually take legal action against them for not giving me a pay raise when they moved me to Electronics for two months. I could go on and on and on.

The trouble? I have a job in a recession. It's a paycheck, however meager, and I know they'll keep me because I bust my **** for them every day and they come to me whenever they need something done. My manager even told me he wants me to become a manager... yet when I tried to interview for two positions, they never gave me a chance.

The temptation? My sister recently got a temporary job working for a factory of sorts. She absolutely loves her job, gets four 10 hours shifts a week, three days off and gets paid more than a dollar more than I do an hour at entry level. She keeps telling me to screw Walmart and come work with her..
It's temporary, though, which worries me in this economy. Apparently they're already talking about making her a permanent employee, but who knows if that would happen with me?
I keep thinking "the grass isn't always greener on the other side" .. but what if it is?

Obviously you can see my problem. Scared to quit and be out of a job if this other one doesn't work out... but isn't it better to not be miserable?

Thank you for reading.. and any and all advice is appreciated!

How do I get a job in Walmart as a cashier?

You fill out this form, which took me 23 seconds to find via the mystical Google.Forgive me, but there's no polite way to ask this - is this question a joke? It obviously took longer for you to ask your question on Quora than it would have taken to do a quick search for "Wal-mart jobs". You must know that. Your question is simple but properly worded, so you're not some sort of knuckle-dragging, marginally literate Yahoo Answers user. You clearly know how to use a search engine. If you wanted to find people who had experience working at Wal-mart, this still wouldn't be the most effective forum but I'd understand you taking the time the ask it. You ask about how to get one of the lowest level peon-ships available, but your goal seems to be oddly specific. What's the appeal for you of working at Wal-mart in particular?Again, what made you think this was the best way to go about getting that information? Or is this some sort of sociology experiment? Don't get me wrong, I wish you all the best on your quest and I truly and deeply hope that this answer doesn't offend you. But I'm legitimately and insatiably curious about your motives for asking the question here.

Are you allowed to work at target if you have a job at walmart?

I would say not. If you signed some sort of employment contract agreeing not to work for the competition, then they certainly can enforce such a contract. Even without such a contract, there’s an implied understanding that you will be loyal to your employer and not damage their business by working for a competitor. However, you could accept a second job in a completely different industry. A fast-food or 7-Eleven clerk position would not violate the terms of your contract, nor would working as a gardener, handyman, or basically anything else outside the “retail discount big box” industry.

What is Walmart's hiring age?

16 for the cashiers,18 and above for floor associates - floor associates often deal with heave machinery such as a fok lift or scissorlift, (keeping in mind that it may also depend on your city/state laws)..thus the difference in age.try to put as much open availibility as possible, and as many as departments as possible.

Produce associate at walmart..?

I work at walmart. walmart has change a lot over the years. A lot more work for one individual than when I started. Mostly with the produce department you stock the produce and make sure the bad one's are out. It is basic things that are not that difficult. The difficult part lies with the Merchandise Supervisor of the produce department. I know that level four here is around 8 but that is in michigan.

Who do you talk to in Walmart about quitting?

How you handle ending your employment with any company, Walmart or otherwise, is entirely up to you.If the place isn't one you plan to have on your resume in the future, or your term of employment was fairly short, then how you handle leaving is less important. The “ideal” manner of terminating your employment would typically constitute writing an actual letter to hand to your boss and/or personnel. In it you should state your planned last date of employment. Hand the letter to your supervisor/manager and let them know you are giving your notice. 2 weeks advance notice is the norm, or you could work out your already scheduled time (some places schedules are made up to 3 weeks ahead). This allows the employer to alter future schedules and plan how to work around you no longer being available. It also sets a tone of leaving the keeps open the door for future employment with them and is professional enough to possibly insure a decent recommendation for future employers who might inquire as to what type of worker you are.On the other hand I have seen people give notice via text as little as 35 minutes before their scheduled shift. Or simply calling in and saying, “I’m done and will not be back except to pick up my last paycheck.”So how you handle leaving is up to you. What sort of tone and feelings do you want to set with the company when you depart?

What is a Walmart Neighborhood Market?

A Walmart Neighborhood Market is opening up very near my house, in the former building of a Shaw's Supermarket. Have you ever been to one of these? What sort of stuff do they sell? Are they just another supermarket type place? What sort of jobs do they offer? Are employees paid well and do they get benefits? Any information appreciated!
