My favorite thing to do on the weekends is visit my parents.I love spending time with my parents whenever I can. But since they live five hours away, I only do this a few times a year.On a normal weekend at home with no plans, I have a routine that I like:First, I like to wake up without an alarm clock.My weekday alarm is set for 5:45 am, so this might be my favorite part of the weekend.It’s a great feeling waking up naturally knowing that I got the exact amount of sleep my body needed.After I wake up, I'll do some strength training at home or go for a run.When I'm feeling good, I run a 6-mile route that goes from my house to the local shopping center and back.I prefer to do my longer morning runs on the weekends because I have more time.After that, I go to the Starbucks by my house.I’ll order a coffee, find a table to myself in the back corner, and write on my laptop for a couple of hours.This is usually when I crank out an answer or two on Quora.That takes me to around noon, at which point I like to eat lunch with my wife and spend the afternoon relaxing.I don't spend much time watching TV, but I do enjoy watching some sports.My wife likes to watch her college football team (Iowa Hawkeyes) so we'll usually do that during football season. Or watch our local NFL team (the Jags).If it's golf season and players I like are in contention, I'll watch whatever golf tournament is on.In the evening, I like to dine out with my wife.We love Mexican food, so we often go to the Mexican restaurant closest to our house.If we are celebrating a special occasion, we’ll go to a nicer restaurant. Our favorite restaurant in town is a French restaurant called Orsay. The food and service there is amazing.After that, I like to lie down on the couch and watch a movie.If it’s a movie I’m interested in, I’ll give it my full attention. If it’s a movie my wife likes and I don’t, I’ll lie there and half-watch with my laptop and work on my blog.I get equal enjoyment from both scenarios.These days, I don’t like drinking too much or staying up too late.I like to have time in the morning the next day to exercise and write.
