What To Expect On Celexa 20mg

Can I cut my celexa pills in half?

1] no, it is not safe
2] NO pills/capsules/tablets.caplets should be cut in half unless OK'd by doctor or pharmacist
3] halving the dose will just delay any side effects you may get; AND delay any benefits, too
4] doctors usually start you out at lowest therapeutic dose anyway

How long does it take for Celexa to work?

We used to tell patients 4 - 6 weeks.  It isn't one of the fastest acting antidepressants, but it does have few side effects.   Hopefully, over the next month, you will suddenly notice that you are laughing along with other people, and will notice you're getting more enjoyment out of life.I've taken it, and about 4 weeks seems right.   I liked Prozac and Cymbalta better, but many people cannot take these because of the side effects.  I didn't mind being sweaty and jittery, because I was always anxious AND depressed, and it wasn't new to me--just a slightly higher degree.  These tend to work faster. If you don't notice any change after 6 weeks, the dose may be too small for you, or it may not be the right antidepressant for you.  Tell your doctor, and hopefully you can make changes.

My cat ate a 20 mg celexa pill ?

Celexa is a serious antidepressant you need to call poison control and find out if you need to take your cat to the vet. If they say vet then go ASAP. Hoping wont help action will.
EDIT: I would not induce vomiting until you talk to a vet. If your cat is sedated from the medication he could aspirate the vomit into his lungs and you would have a more serious problem than the first.

Would taking 5mg Valium and 20mg Celexa at the same time be okay?

I accidentally took 2 20 mg tablets of celexa. What will happen?

Please no "Your such an idiot " comments . I know I was stupid to trust a friends word who said they were xanax. Im extremely upset about it.
I took what I believe are two 20 mg tablets at 7 hours ago. Feeling restless/ anxiety/ cottonmouth.
Should the effects start to go away soon?

How will my dog act if she swallows a celexa?

Assuming you are taking citalopram (Celexa) 20mg tablets and the dog weighs 6kg, she ingested 3.3mg per kg. The LD50 dose (i.e. 50% fatal dose) for citalopram in dogs is 8mg per kg (i.e. 2.5 times what she took) EVERY DAY FOR AT LEAST 17 DAYS. There is no single dose data for dogs, but in rats no fatalities occurred with single doses as high as 120mg per kg (weight for weight, 30 times your dog's dose). You have nothing to worry about, but please be more careful with your meds in future.

Just for your information, my sister switched from citalopram to escitalopram (Lexapro) about 6 months ago and has never felt better in her life. Might be worth having a word with your doc.

Will I overdose on 28 Celexa pills that are 40 mg each?

Please go to an Emergency Room if you are having extreme negative thoughts!

I take 20 mg of Citalopram (Celexa) daily. I cannot remember if I have already taken it today.?

This is funny (not in a lol kinda way) because I had this same exact problem around 10pm tonight. I take 20mg of Paxil daily, and usually take it around 9:30pm. Around 10:15 I panicked because I couldn't remember if I'd taken my pill for the night (Paxil's withdrawal effects scare me, so I am determined not to miss a dose!!)...so I looked at the label on the bottle, and saw that it'd been filled last Monday. I just counted the days (11), and then dumped the bottle out and counted the pills (30 in a bottle). I saw that I hadn't taken my dose and then went ahead and took it (I had one pill too many). If it's been longer than about 4 hours from your normal time to take it, I would go ahead and wait until tomorrow, and just skip today's. Don't ever double up on these types of medications. Never ever. Hope this helps!

I've just taken my first Citalopram. What should I expect?

After the first one, usually nothing. After the first week or so, you will most likely feel the downside of the medication, if you have any side effects. I have been depressed several times through my life and tried many different medications, citalopram included. The positive effects come usually last, after two weeks or a month or so. One important thing to know: If you are suicidal, or if you are a young adult, you may find that you feel worse, and you suicidal thoughts increases. Be aware, and contact you doctor if this happens! Citalopram, I understand is among the medications that gives the least side effects, but it also does not work for all depressed people, and so you may have to try another drug if the medication will not work well enough. Also, when coming of the medication it is important to do this with your doctors help and approval, to not just drop the medication if you feel better or you feel that it doesn't work or you have some of the negative side effects, because dropping the medication cold turkey will most likely give negative side effects also.If you have a supportive friend or a family member, you should tell them that you are taking medication and ask them to tell you if they think that you are acting weirdly or if they think that you situation becomes worse.
