What to name gangs in a dystopian planet?

I'm writing a book (based mainly on Warriors by Erin Hunter, Divergent by Veronica Roth and Breathe by Sarah Crossan) where settlers from another world landed on this planet of ruins (very much like Earth would be after WWIII). There are clans and gangs of teens roaming around. They're all teens, because a germ that was on the planet when they arrived killed the adults, and made children grow at double speed, until the age of 14, when they aged normally, and died at 24. The different clans/gangs have different attributes, both physically and mentally.
I need names for these gangs. Like the ones from Divergent, but different enough so it's not outright copying.

What are some great dystopian movies?

Besides Children of Men (fantastic movie!) and the other movies mentioned by Hung Lee and Garrick Saito, my favorite dystopian movies are: A Clockwork OrangeLife in a dystopian Britain where utter chaos and destruction is the norm. Directed by the great Kubrick himself.BrazilAnother great watch, this movie is about a dystopian future where machines play a far greater role in the world.V for VendettaAdaptation of the Alan Moore novel, this movie doesn't disappoint and includes a great V scene featuring the protagonist.

In dystopian depictions of the future, which negative themes are the most common among them that we could start taking steps to mitigate today?

A good question - maybe the answer is to:Create a better way of distributing the benefits of technology and scientifically led progress across society in general, rather than towards a moneyed elite. Jobs lost to automation aren’t going to return. Those who have lost those jobs (or their children and grandchildren) might (in future) be somewhat unhappy. Otherwise… well, there might be a revolution a few decades from now. Maybe even sooner… it might be an enlightened kind of revolution that benefits all, but historical precedents tend to indicate otherwise. No more worship of a Big Brother authoritarian “Hero” figure, no more rule by a party or partisan elite who have their own interests at heart and use the media to protect or extend their interests. No more assuming that the (only) planet we can currently live on is somehow immune to any damage we might inflict on it.I might sound like an idiot but at least I mean well.

Which science-fiction films focus on settling a new planet?

Someone pointed out that this first movie may not literally work, but it has the intention of being about settling a new planet, so I’m editing my answer and adding to it. The most recent one that I know of is Passengers, starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. Passengers (2016). The intention is to emigrate and settle a new planet - but best-laid plans and spaceship issues…Official TrailerThis TV series about settling a new *time* on our planet, via a scientific portal, was interesting. They deal with issues of limited supplies on occasion and both local dangers and social/organizational issues a lot. Since it’s hard to get things to the colony (I don’t want to give too much away) and since the conditions and materials and wildlife are different from where they were, it’s somewhat like being on a whole new planet.Terra Nova (TV Series 2011)If you have a LOT of time, an excellent bunch of TV series and movies is the new Galactica/Caprica series (start with Battlestar Galactica (TV Mini-Series 2003– ). These humans are elsewhere, trying to find Earth to settle here. There isn’t much permanent settlement along the way - most of the series takes place on spaceships or in existing colonies - but there is some - and they’re trying to find a place to settle. Many twists. Really, really well done, despite a few issues here and there which I think they could have done better. After you’ve finished all of Galactica, including the movies, watch Caprica to get the backstory.Galactica:Caprica (again, this prequel series mentions colonies and talks about the different personalities, priorities, and mores of the people from each but settling isn’t the point of any of it):There’s also The Martian Chronicles (TV Mini-Series 1980– ), from when I was a kid. Had nightmares about it afterward. Haven’t seen it as an adult, to see how it held up over time. Don’t read too much about it on IMDB, as there are major spoilers that aren’t marked as such.

Whats the most inspirational book you've ever read and why?

The course in miracles. It taught and untaught me a great deal. A long time ago I thought that love was something that you reserved for some special set of people that you had judged worthy of it.

After a while I got to thinking about what Jesus had said about turning the other cheek and loving our neighbor I put the two together and realized that he had made no exceptions in these statements. It became obvious to me that he intended that we exclude no one from the love that we are supposed to be giving. I started thinking about my idea of love and suddenly realized that I had not been loving anyone at all. I had simply been judging everyone and every thing.

Judging someone worthy of love is not love, it is only judgment. I actually started to cry when I realized this. I saw just how much of my life I had wasted being judgmental, thinking of myself as a Christian, when I was actually doing just the opposite of what Jesus had asked us to do.

I thought about the verse judge not lest ye be judged, and I understood it for the first time.

I realized that I have a lot of catching up to do. So many opportunities were wasted. I now try to apply the love that I have for the world in a universal way like Jesus asks us to do.

If I start to feel afraid and think that I see someone that I should not love because of something I have thought or heard I try to catch my mistake as soon as possible. I tell myself that I have forgot the truth and have fallen for the same old trick that had cost me so many opportunities to be loving in the past. The horror of this realization is often all that is necessary to bring me back to my senses and make me drop the judgmental nonsense I was thinking.

I still have a lot to learn about love, but at least I’m making progress. Without the course I would have never realized this.

Love and blessings
