What Treatments Can I Use To Heal A Broken Or Jammed Toe

How do you treat a broken pinky toe?

There is no real treatment for a broken toe. The best thing to do is (using medical tape that can be purchased at any pharmacy) tape the broken toe to the toe next to it. This will offer stability to the broken toe. Keeping your foot elevated and using ice will also help with discomfort. Take ibuprofen if you're able.

How long does it take for a jammed toe to heal after the day it was jamed?

i hurt my big toe and it really hurts. itd the second day after i jamed it and it really hurts. how long does it take to heal acfter the first day it got jammed?

How can you treat a broken toe?

Depends on which toe is broken. If you've broke say your pinky toe (5th metatarsal), you can buddy tape it to the toe next to it (4th metatarsal).I recently fractured all 4 toes on my right foot and completely broke the 4th toe.At Walmart I found a strap used to straighten crooked toes and used that as my way of buddy taping two of my toes.Walmart also has these sponge like sleeves that you can cut to fit of which I used to slide over the other injured toes. This provided support and protection for the toes not tapped together.Your feet will never be the same after breaking a toe and you will be more susceptible to injury in the future.Ice, elevation and rest are crucial and the last piece of advise is get some Epsom salt and soak your foot 20 mins in the hottest water you can stand 3 times a day then run the toes under cold water afterwards.Continue using Epsom salt it has amazing healing qualities I can't stress that enough!

Jammed my toe in Judo?

First of all, you need to actually know what "jammed" means. In other words, Is it broken or not? How to find out, go see an orthopedic Doctor. In the meantime, put a small gauze or tissue paper between the injured toe and the next toe. Then get some 1/2" adhesive clloth tape and tape the injured toe to the next toe. Now they are "buddies" you see. Don't tape the toes too tight so as to cut off circulation.. Then get some sort of hard soled shoe, like a post-op shoe. This will even out the metatarsal heads(the bones just below the toes), allowing for greater healing. If ya don't want to see a Doc, or can't afford one, I suppose you could use this technique. Wether it's broken or not, the treatment is basically the same , but I won't be doing you justice if I don't tell ya to see a Doc.

How do you unjam a jammed toe ?

super ouch !!!!
Hardly anything more painfull !!!!
The reason is that finger, and toe injuries cause the selling to be "compartmentalized"...it's trapped into small spaces that don't allow the pressure from swelling to be released/dissipated to any other space.
R.I.C.E (except compression)is the imperative.
Because of the swelling , elevation is critical. Keep in mind that every time that you put your foot down, it takes about three times longer to reduce the swelling caused by lowering your foot.
Of course, an anti-inflammatory will help if you take them mutilpe time a day for 3-4 days (use the daily maximum recommended dose ...anything less is likely to be insufficient.
"Splinting" of the toe is often used but has a variable results due to the "tourniquet" effect of the tape which increases swelling and compression and , hence pain. If you want to try this, use 1/2 inch silk or adhesive tape and tape your to to the next toe.
Walking is pain full because we push off from our great toe. Use crutches if you have to walk and wear firm soled, supportive shoes.
Doubt that a trip to the E.R. would be helpful unless your foot is injured , as well.
Hope this helps...My heart goes out to You.

Broken ferret toe WHAT DO I DO!!!!!!?

I've stepped on his little toe and im really not sure if iv dislocated it, broken it, or just really badly hurt it...
he is 1.5 years old

but im not sure whether or not to take him to the vet as I cannot remember or not if small animal toes and fingers can be treated for the size of the breaks

but i also know that like people when you break a finger and it isnt broken in a messed up way that has to be placed in the right position as its upside down, your suppose to just let time go on and let it heal itself....is this the case with ferret toes....

He still walks, runs, climbs, and explores...he is not showing any sign of being upset other then the limb....but its not so much a limb rather then a giant step...i watched carefully and noticed he IS placing it on the floor but each step is like he's stepping over something....
he does cry when i touch it, i tried to feel for a break but cannot tell if like i said iv dislocated it or broken it or hurt it
iv compared the back foots middle toe to his left leg and before the knuckle there is a straight bone thats very tiny, it seems to be -_/\ rather then like a claw thats more like __/\

sorry for the bad diagram but im just trying to give as much info as i could for you to understand as much as possible from everything im telling you

this happened about an hour or two ago....what do i do

could you PLEASE please please email me back if you would be so kind

i just cant find an answer on ANY site other then
THEIR BONES ARE SMALL AND WILL BREAK EASILY....

REALLY....you think"

How can I speed the healing of a jammed/sprained toe?

Well, if you have iced it for the first 24 hours and the swelling has stopped, it is time to get the blood flowing through there to speed up the healing process. So now it is time to start adding heat for short periods of time. Alternated with ice, you can expect to recover a little faster. As you know, it's hard to splint a toe, but taping it to your other toe may ease the pain of putting on a sock. If swelling persists, make sure you keep it elevated above the heart as much as possible.
