What Type Of Rat It Could Be

Can rats live with another type of rodent?

No, rats will kill any smaller rodents, and they should always live with other rats, they are very social animals. You need to get him a same sex buddy.

It is best to get a younger rat because introductions are easier, but you can introduce males of any age, they will not try to kill each other. And rats do not become adults until 6 months old, so under that age is easy to introduce.

What type of food do white rats eat?

I need help with my science project ASAP!
I need to know the answer to the following questions (number 2 needs to be in detail but the other ones I just would like an overview.)
1. What type of food do rats eat?
2. Do rat's hunt for their food? If not how do they obtain/capture food?
3. What sort f food might a rat be better suited to digest than a human being?

Also all of these questions should have to do with white rats!
THANKS SOOOO MUCH:)!

Are their any type of pet rat that are hypo allergenic?

I think most allwergic issues with rats would be while being held. If mom isn't holding the rat, I doubt that there will be an issue. Some allergies arise with the bedding or waste from the rat. Be open with the breeded and ask for a trial run for 1-2 weeks.

What types of food do rats eat?

From a veterinary standpoint the best diet for a domestic rat is about 80% grain with the remaining 20% divided between fruits and veggies (avoid lettuce, it gives them the runs) and some protein, unprocessed cheese is okay, but the best is cooked beef or chicken. Or you can give them three or four nuggets of a compacted grain feed with a couple table spoons of kitten chow for protein and other such goodness. Apples are very good for them, leave the skins on. Also, make sure they have a hard chew, like say a piece of wood or such.Rats have teeth that grow constantly, if they don't grind their chompers down they will become unable to eat and starve to death.

What can I do after my dog ate a rat?

Did your dog chase, catch and eat the rat, or find it dead?If your dog just caught and ate a rat, it is probably not a big deal, although I would watch for any signs of illness in case. The biggest concern, however, is if the rat was dead, it may have been killed by rat poison which will, in turn, poison your dog. If you have been utilizing rat poison around your house, then the chances are good that this may be the case. You will need to contact your vet ASAP and make certain to take the packaging with you so that they know what type of rat poison it was, since there are several types and that work in varying different ways.If you haven’t used rat poison, but you know where your dog got the rat (perhaps a neighbor’s yard) ask your neighbor if they have put out rat poison and get the box information. Here is a link that describes the different types of rat and mouse poisons and what they can do to your dog, if ingested. The Dangers of Rat Poison to Dogs and Cats

Can a pet rat live outside, If not then what types of rodent can? **10 points**?

Technically a rat cannot live outside and neither can a ferret. The weather extremes will kill it unless you live in a very mild climate year round. If it is the fur that causes your allergies have you ever thought about a hairless rat? They make great pets just like regular rats. I rescue rats and have all types, fancy, hooded, hairless and dumbos and they all make great companions. I'm not sure where you live but many pet stores including petsmart carry hairless rats and they do not cost much more than regular rats. Just remember though, rodents are very social animals and need a cage mate. If not they can become depressed, withdrawn and suffer many health issues. If not, a rabbit may be your next best choice.

What type of weapon did the "tunnel rat" man choose to use when going in the tunnels of the Vietcong during the Vietnam war?

[I have no experience with this, but …]Everything I’ve ever seen, the guy has a .45 Colt pistol; and a flashlight. And let me tell you, those guys had stones! No f@#kin’ way I’m going down that hole!“Sir you can shoot me right here and now, for insubordination, I willingly admit it. Dream up whatever punishment you want, I’ll walk point for the rest of the war, if I have to. BUT I’m not going down that hole. No chance.”

What type of rodent could this be that loves to eat bread?

So about 2 months ago I discovered a hole outside at the corner of the house leading to under the house near the kitchen and I've seen what I think are chipmunks scurrying into that hole when we open the kitchen door to go outside. I have also hear something scurrying under the bathtub which is behind the wall of the kitchen. Whatever it is I only thought was in the walls and didn't have access to the interior of the house. Guess I was wrong b/c over the past week I've had holes mysteriously appearing at the unopened end of loaf bread and bagels which sits in a large bowl on top of the microwave. Whatever it is doesn't touch fruit, crumbs on the floor and can't get in the cabinets but is eating the bread...and lots of it. A rat? A chipmunk? Our cat has been interested in *something* under the stove and dishwasher since a little after we moved in back in the spring but he hasn't caught anything. Haven't seen any droppings. Any suggestions on what it is and what we need to catch it?

Can different types of rats mate and have pups together? (brown+black rat, wood rat brown rat, etc....)?

I am writing a novel on wild rats in a pack, and the main conflict is them being a bit disorganized, and fighting and stuff, like that. this is mainly because there are a few black rats, some brown rats, and some rats like those you would find at a pet store, because they are descended from escaped or released pets. To try to keep this as realistic as possible, (even though I have to cut corners, such as all these rat living together in the first place.....) i need to know if brown rats and pack rats, black rats and pack rats, brown and black rats, etc, could mate and successfully have rat pups. I wouldn't think so, as the packrat/wood rat is small, the brown rat is large and strong, and they dominate over the black rat......but, if they live together in the first place, maybe......
