What Were Some Of The Ways You Dramatically Improved Your 100m

How can I improve my running time for a given distance (I have been running 5K in about 35 minutes for a week now without improvement)?

Improvement in running times generally requires much more than a week. It also requires that you do variable paced running, and it’s best to not do the same thing from day to day. After you get a good distance base, you should be doing structured runs one to three times a week, unless you are old like me. Then do them less often. Also make on week a hard training week and the next an easier one over and over again.Between structured run days either do slow steady runs or rest. Rest and recovery is important to long range improvement.Structured runs include interval training. For middle distance results (up to at least a 5 K) interval training can be repeat 200 m runs, repeat 400 m runs, repeat 800 m runs or a mixture of the three. These should be at least as fast or a little faster than race pace with some jogging between for recovery.Variable paced running with hills on roads is also useful. I would normally push the pace on the uphills and recover on level road and downhills. There are other things that could be done, but mostly they are not a good idea in the absence of real time monitoring by a knowledgeable coach.Muscles generally don’t get stronger or cycle faster unless they are pushed beyond what you’ve done before every now and then.

I have high arch feet. Is there a different way to improve my speed in sprinting?

Don't really know how "high" is your high arch. I too have a high arch and can sprint comfortably. In fact I am more comfortable sprinting than running long distances. Having a strong body- lower, upper and core helps a lot in sprinting. Suggest plyometric exercises for speed and strength. One very important aspect is right shoes- and I believe you should not worry too much about them and slowly transition to running on flats- but do a slow transition while strengthening your calf and shin.Hope this helps

I have six days before a 100m sprint. How can I utilize them maximally?

Work on your speed endurance. I've been training for just over a year and considering that you have six days, that really isn't a substantial amount of time. Rest two days before your competition, so for example, if your race in on Friday, make Tuesday you last training session; so that you have 48 hours of total rest. You now have four days. On the first day, run a 40m, (3 minute break), 50m, (3 minute break) and then a 6om (10 minute break). Then repeat the process one more time. On the second day, run 8x120m sprints, at 85% intensity. It is important to run the first 20m at 100% intensity to maintain your starting speed. In between each of the sprints, walk around the track back to your starting line and wait for two and a half minutes. Repeat that up until the fourth. After the fourth, take a 13 minute break. Then start the cycle over again - short sprint session one day, and t]hen generally the speed endurance session two days later. If you can be bothered to actually train, then I'd advise you to join your local Track & Field club! Hope this helps! :)

How much can weak arms impact your 100m time?

The only purpose your arms have when running is to stabilize your body. Each time one of your feet strikes, it is attached to only one side of your body. This means that your body would spin if there is no force to counteract it, just like if you were rowing a boat on only one side. The movement of your arms counteract the push of the leg when it hits the ground, keeping you facing forward, and making you dramatically more efficient, by not wasting any of the energy in your forward momentum generated by your leg to spin your body.Pay attention and note how both arms move in sync, in opposite directions, always turning your body full force to either the right or the left at a time, always to compensate for the turning force generated by your leg.The stuff about propelling you forward is pure BS. That would violate thermodynamics.Every time you push your arm forward, you push your body backward equally hard. That’s simple physics. The same is true when you swing your arm while you are running.

A student runs 100m, 200m and 400m races at the school athletics day.?

a. 0.8³ = 0.512
b. 0.8*0.2*0.8 = 0.128
c. this is a conditional probability problem
the favourable ways are WWW, WWL, LWW
with Pr = 0.8³ + 2*0.8²*0.2 = 0.768
for the sample space, add WLW with Pr = 0.128
P[win 2nd race | wins at least two races] = 0.768/(0.768+0.128)
= 0.8571

Major Sporting events of the 1960's?

What were some major sporting events that happened during the 1960's? Who one the world series(s), stanley cups, and super bowls. If you cannot give me that answer could you direct me to a website that could answer my questions. I have to do a report for school about the 1960's sporting events.

How do i lower my 400m time from :53.5 to :50.5?

If your open 200 time is 23, and you go by the "cook book" you can not run a 50 flat. Usually we think that you can come through the 200 of the 400 race at 2 seconds slower than your 200 race time and you will slow down to run the second 200 of the 400 2 seconds slower than the first 200. Some people have the strength to run the second 200 at the same speed as the first 200. If you can do that then you will have your 50 flat. You will have to work on stress intervals so you can manage the second half of the race. Run your projected race pace for 250 to 350 meters. Try to do at least 3 of each of these work outs with 3 to 5 minutes rest. That would be 3x250 at less than 32 seconds. 3x300 in 37.50. A good time trial is to run 320 meters, if you add 10 seconds to this time it is going to be close to your race 400 time. A good work out is to stride 300 meters immediately walk to the start of the 100 and sprint to the finish. Your 100 time is supposed to be at race pace, for you that would be 12.5 seconds. The 300 time is not that important, but it could be 45 to 50 seconds. Walk a 400 to recover and repeat. If you can do this work out you can run the 400 and finish strong.
