What Will Happen If I Cancel My Housing Agreement

How do i get out of my college housing agreement?

The housing agreement states that, A student contracting for housing accommodations accepts and is committed to those accommodations for the entire contract period, unless the University has sufficient demand to allow for the vacancy left by the cancellation to be filled by a student who is not already committed to a housing contract.
If there is NOT sufficient demand as noted above, the Housing Agreement can only be cancelled if student’s affiliation with the university is terminated by: 1) withdrawal from the University, (2) academic dismissal, (3) graduation, (4) participating in a University approved study abroad program, (5) active military induction, (6) death of an immediate family member/guardian, or (7) long-term hospitalization of the student.

....My family has entered a terrible financial situation and I can barely afford to continue school let alone living on campus, I have to cancel my housing agreement but I don't know what to do, PLEASE HELP?!!

Cancelling a college housing contract? Help!!?

I withdrew from college a few days ago due to severe anxiety problem,s that I plan on getting help with. I also cancelled my housing contract and paid the $100 cancellation fee, but now the school is charging me for the two weeks that I stayed in my dorm and I have to pay 75% of the entire housing cost which will be almost $8000 out of pocket! I can file an appeal to try to get out of paying the 75%, but the man made it seem like it was near impossible to to get an appeal approved. If my appeal isn't approved I will not be able to attend school somewhere else next semester, and I've been told that that reason isn't good enough.

What are some good reasons that I should say in my appeal? Have any of you had an appeal approved before? Good advice is really appreciated right now!

Can I cancel my housing application for SDSU ?

I'm FILLING out the housing application for SDSU, I only completed the "Housing Instructions", "Living Choices", and "Meningitis" section. I haven't pledge or input anything in the License Agreement section. Obviously I didn't complete the application. If I stop completing the Housing app would they cancel my housing request? I read online that they charge $50 to students who cancel 30-days prior to their contract start date. That only applies for whom got accepted to the housing , right?
I know it's a silly menial question but I'm an English learner so I got little confused when I read their policy....
Please respond and thank you so much :D.

What is a good excuse to cancel a housing contract.?

I need to move out of the dorms so I want to cancel my contract and have them not charge me the $7000. I am not allowed to get this refund unless I have an extremely good reason that is out of my control. The truth is I cannot afford the dorms but that is not a good enough reason for them. Does anyone have any good suggestions as to a good reason that the university might consider to give me a full or partial refund. I would even take just a spring semester refund.

Ucf housing help!!!!?

I recently signed an agreement to stay in a particular dorm, but now I want to change it. I did not pay the pre-payment yet. How do I go about canceling the first agreement?

What happens if you break an apartment lease?

If you can get the landlord to agree to an early lease termination or buyout, the lease will have been terminated by mutual agreement and you suffer no damage to your credit or rental history.

It may cost you $$ upfront - usually 2-3 months rent - but your liability will end without any negative consequences.

If you break the lease without working out a written agreement with the landlord, you remain liable for the rent until either a replacement tenant is found or the lease expires.

You are liable for any costs the landlord incurs due to your breach, such as advertising costs, agent fees, etc.

If you fail to pay any monies owed per the lease, the landlord can sue you in Small Claims, win and get a judgment against you.

Judgments can be renewed for up to 20 years and they accrue interest per your state' s laws.

The judgment will go on your credit report.

Your rental and credit history will be shot and finding a rental in the future will be next to impossible.

If I am not availing my home loan even if its sanctioned will I still be liable to pay processing fees?

A sanction letter is proposal letter of bank & since, you haven't accepted it so you are not liable to pay any processing fee. However, some banks/NBFCs charge some amount of PFs at the time of loan application which gets adjusted later with the actual PF hopefully you haven't signed any document to pay the sum/part of processing fee or legal & technical charges. Although Legal/Technical charges are usually charged upfront before proceeding for the same.If you haven't signed any document you don't have to pay anything. If bank or its representative still insist you to pay, then you have the right to ask if that was signed any where & confirm it with the customer care mentioned in bank's website.Note: any cheque issued during the entire loan process should be drawn in favour of lender & shouldn't be left blank (for obvious reasons) having said that amount for security cheques are generally left blank but favoring should be mentioned.

I signed my apartment lease renewal which will start in july, but i want to cancel it. can i ?

It really all depends on what you signed in the agreement/lease. You shouldn't have to pay a hefty fine, since almost all places require a 20/30 day notice of leaving and you have over that amount, which gives the landlord sufficient time to find a new tenant. But landlords are monsters so I would read through your lease thoroughly to see if they are demanding a fee for cancellation. And if they are, I agree with the other user to look up the buyer's remorse laws in your state.
