Why do some liberals want to cut defense spending? Our soldiers protect our nation and promote freedom and democracy.
If we cannot afford to ‘cut’ military spending, then we obviously should raise taxes to pay for said military spending. If you don’t want to pay for that military spending, if you don’t want to raise taxes, then we have to cut spending to match current tax loads.It’s simple economics!The truth of the matter is though, we are spending way too much on the military. We are basically spending hundreds of billions of dollars to no purpose other than to feed the egos and pockets of those with small hands.Consider this chart…We are not only #1 in the ability to kill other human beings and force other countries to our will (with the questionable morality in doing so), but we actually spend more on the military than the next 10 countries combined. Heck, we waste more on military boondoggles than China spends on their whole military! So I think a reduction of our military (and perhaps an increase in our state department so we can solve international problems in a more civil manner) is just good economic sense. It makes good conservative sense!
Why does President Trump offend our allies as he did today by saying Germany is controlled by Russia because it gets so much of its energy from there?
Russia is about to supply most of Germany’s energy supplies, much in the form of natural gas, now the main heating source for German homes and it also powers German industry. Cut off the supply now, as Russia did some years ago over a political dispute, a lot of Germans would become very cold and unable to cook their meals, and industry would be severely impacted. Plus the fact, some of the leading political figures in Germany benefit significantly [financially] from the German/Russia natural gas/oil agreements. And finally, the United States spends billions of dollars annually stationing thousands of troops in the EU, primarily Germany and positions billions of dollars of military equipment in Germany to help defend Germany against Russia. The EU and Germany provides Russia with billions of dollars, much of which is spent on military equipment to defend Russia from NATO members which includes Germany, doesn’t make much sense to help your potential enemy defeat you should a military conflict develop. Many Europeans believe this could never happen just as the did over 80 years ago when Hitler came to power in Germany, how wrong they were and there’s ten’s of thousands of Americans buried in the EU to prove it, they sent there to defend much of Europe against German aggression. There are still some who believe the same scenario could happen again with different players and rightfully so.

What should I do?Nothing.Are the people who mock you people who you actually care about? Do they matter to you at all? If not, ignore them. Their opinions don’t matter, and are not worth your time. You won’t change their minds, but further cement their erroneous view by protesting too much.They’re not mocking you because of you, they’re mocking you to make themselves feel better, to compensate for their own insecurities and flaws. They’re assholes. Fuck ‘em.On the other hand, if someone who does matter to you, a friend or suchlike, says these things, point out that A) you are not in fact a lesbian, and B) the teasing hurts your feelings. Your friend should stop mocking you. If that person does not, you aren’t really friends. Friends care about each other’s feelings. My friends and I tease each other constantly, but if we accidentally cross a line, that line of teasing gets dropped.If a teacher is teasing you, tell the teacher to stop. If the teasing persists, speak to the school administration. A teacher has no business teasing a student and creating a hostile atmosphere in a supposed learning environment.My parent’s taught me two important lessons when I was a kid, that I think would serve you here.“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words cannot hurt me.”“Consider the source.”Now, this is not to say that words are never hurtful, but that words can only hurt you if you let them.
