What Would Be A Good First Food For A Baby Who Tends To Get Constipated Easily

Do bananas make you constipated or get diarrhea?

Any fruit will give you diarrhea if you eat too many.

Help my babies constipated and won't burp!!

I thank most of your replies, but please don't be rude. I have been working in childcare for five years now with infants and toddlers exclusively, and we have also took parenting classes before her arrival. We are first time parents though and are finding it to be so much different with your own kids.

Why does my baby get constipated with milk?

My daughter is 16 months old I feels so bad when she has a bm. She screams and holds on very tight to me. I have tried whole milk, 2 percent and 1 percent they all make her very constipated. What else can i try? I have asked her Dr. all she says is to give her pear or apple juice, but all that does is give her a bad rash! Please can anyone relate and help? My baby loves milk!

What are some baby foods that won't constipate my son?

Girl I feel your pain on seeing your child go through that pain, my son was quite constipated once I started him on the rice cereal, it was awful. You can try the barley & oatmeal cereal since it's the iron that they need from the cereals. The nurse recommended the dark Karo syrup watered down but that's nothing but sugar so I went the natural fruit & veggies way and it worked out perfectly.
I then gave him the prunes, pears, apples, apricots, no bananas because they're binding butternut squash, carrots, peas, sweet potatoes then I gave him watered down pear and prune juice here and there but I watered it down to 1oz juice 3oz water also straight water is good to start now too. Once I started all that my son hasn't been constipated again.

How often will an exclusively breastfed 3-4 month old baby poop?

A 3 to 4 month old fully breastfed baby can have enormous variation in the frequency of pooping.Fully breastfed babies do not create nearly as much poop as formula fed babies or babies that have started solids. The reason for this is that breastmilk being the natural food has almost no waste. Formula has to have a lot of waste as the baby cannot utilise the contents of the formula as well, so high doses of the nutrients in it are used. Much of this then goes to waste. The baby also cannot fully absorb all of the contents of solids, so again the amount of poop will increase when solids are started. The smell of poop in formula fed babies and babies who eat solids is also stronger, for the same reasons. My first baby would poop 6 to 8 times per day, every day, until she started solids around 6 months. When I say poop, each poop was tiny, just a small yellow stain, and almost no solid matter in it at all.My second baby would poop about once per day. Not a lot each time, but more than my daughter did.My third baby started pooping every 7 to 10 days. Once he even went 14 days. This was his normal pattern. When he went, it was a lot more in volume than with the other two, but still quite soft, and not uncomfortable for him at all. No pain in his tummy. No pain to push out, as it was soft. This too, can be a perfectly normal pattern for a breastfed baby.

How can you prevent constipation in your three month old baby?

Bowel habits in a 3 month old baby may vary from one baby to another. Some babies may pass a stool once in 2–3 days and another may pass 3–4 stools in a single day. In a 3 month old child passage of stools less than 2 times per week ,or passage of hard lumpy stools that are painful to pass can be termed as Constipation .This may or may not be associated with abdominal distension and discomfort. At the age of three months there is no roughage in the baby's diet and hence they may tend to be constipated. Also breast fed babies are less likely to be constipated than those on formula .For babies older than four months two servings of pure fruit juices ( apple pear or prune) 100 ml twice a day may be added to the diet. For younger babies one serving of diluted pure juice ( without sugar) may be added to the diet.If your baby has any of the symptoms listed above consult your doctor regarding giving him a laxative like milk of magnesia or lactulose which are recommended for babies older than one month of age.If only the initial part of the stool is hard and painful to pass , a Pediatrics suppository may be used occasionally but it is not advisable for regular use.Discuss with your doctor the possibility of adding roughage to the diet earlier than 6 months.

My toddler won't poop, chronic constipation! Anyone have any great ideas?

I've tried altering diet, supplements, fiber, nothing seems to help. I don't know if it's a slow digestive tract, allergy, etc...
my doctor doesn't seem to be concerned, but I am.
