What Would Be The Average Cost Of A Week Long Er Hospital Stay For A Child

How long is the average stay in a mental hospital?

Generally a psychiatrist will discharge once the patient is no longer felt to be a threat to herself or others. She must have been demonstrating signs that she was still thinking or planning to kill her self. Is she taking the medications that are being prescribed? Inpatient psychiatric care is supper expensive, and the need for these beds are endless. If she tries to leave prematurely this time, I am certain she will be placed under a court order to remain at the facility for as long as they feel necessary. You sound like a good friend. encourage her to participate in her treatment plan. The stigma of mental illness can sometimes be the biggest hurdle. Its a disease that is not curable, but it is treatable, and let her know you will be there for her. She is lucky to have a friend like you.

How much would it cost to stay in a hospital in America?

I live in England, so the NHS pays for hospital visits, but I have a school project to figure out how much it would've cost if I lived in America, without insurance, and without a payment plan. I was in hospital for 50 days (in a row), I saw a physiotherapist for 35 days out of the 50, and I saw a physiotherapist (hydro) for 35 days. I saw my doctor once a week, the specialist nurse once a week, and the pharmacist twice a week. (this doesn't include meds.)

I really appreciate the help, thanks

How long will premature babies stay in the hospital?

I am a nurse, and have had 2 premature babies and they do not stay till there due date, my 34 weeker was home week 35 and he had been on a ventilator for 3 of those 6 days he was there, and he had critical bilirubin levels too. Also they do not need to be breathing on there own, lots of babies come home with oxygen, c-pap, bi-pap.

Girls do better than boys. Complications will keep them there longer, any infection etc. They like the babies to be feeding well, but babies do come home on tube feeds too. They like the babies to be breathing on their own but that doesn't always happen either.

As long as they are stable, and holding their temperature without complication they will be home fairly quick, the earlier they are born the more likely there will be complications though not always the case. If they are born at 26 weeks, they will be there awhile, if they are born at 32 they could be home in only a few weeks.

Also size isn't an issue, there is a myth that a baby must be 5 lbs to be discharged from the hospital, and that just isn't true, my son (one of them) came home well under 5 lbs.

How much should an ER visit cost for a Kidney stone?

My son recently experienced the dis-pleasure of a kidney stone. While away at college he began to experience some pain at around 6 pm. He decided to lie down and rest hoping the pain would go away. By 9 pm the pain was so severe he could not tolerate it. His room-mate drove him to the local ER in Charlotte, NC. My son was admitted and the ER dept. began to run test to determine the problem. He was fed fluids and medication through an IV. A CT scan was also performed. The conclusion was he had a kidney stone and that it should pass within 72 hours. After approx 3 hours in the ER, he was sent home with a strainer, prescriptions for pain medicine, and told to follow up with a urologist.Luckily he passed the stone the next day. Today I received a statement from the hospital. They sent a bill to the insurance company for $6,086.40. I thought this sounded high. What do you think?
