What Would Happen If I Report My Iphone 5 Lost/stolen And When I Receive A New One Then Report It

IPhone lost or stolen?

Ok where is the last time you saw your phone? Did you remember carrying it? If it is in the house then it should probably be in the house. The problem is if it is offline then the phone is either dead or turned off or if it cant reach the internet (ex sim card removed, no wifi). Someone can just restore it and use as a iPod touch. I know this from experience as my iphone was stolen yesterday. If you are sure it is in your house then search your house thoroughly. If you think its stolen then contact your carrier immediately and report it lost/stolen. That way, he/she cant use your phone like racking up huge bills or prank calling the police which can get you in trouble. Sometimes they give you fine for not notifying immediately. Hope you find it soon. If its stolen I feel sad for you. People can be really selfish sometimes.

Can I sell my phone and report it as lost/stolen?

AT&T will deactivate and/or trace the phone. Sooner or later it's going to turn up. If they see it in use after it was reported as "lost/stolen," you should expect the police to be involved. And AT&T will think they're doing you a wonderful favor by getting your phone back.

It's going to seem very suspicious to them that you don't want a replacement phone, but will just keep paying the monthly bill.

The buyer can report you for fraud and sue you themselves when it's discovered what happened with the phone.

Ultimately, there are very high odds you'll be caught for what is, essentially, fraud. Depending on your plan, the phone likely remained the property of AT&T, and was not fully paid off yet. This sounds like it was a very stupid thing to do. I'd expect you'll have some police interaction before your story is finished. Its just unpredictable if it's AT&T or the buyer who will call them first.

What happens if I report a cell phone as lost/stolen?

I currently have sprint and it is a blessing that you have the insurance.. It is the one that Is $7 a month Equipment replacement insurance.. You need to call lockline/assurion and let them know that he lost his phone.. You need to have a credit card with at least $50 on it .. That is the deductible.. When you talk to the representative tell them that he lost his phone and that you need it replaced. They will take the $50 payment and send you the replacement via UPS within a week.. make sure when you are processing this make sure you ask them what phone are they replacing his with if they are out of his model phone.. If they have to replace his phone with a different model make sure they send you a home charger because they will not automatically do it. The $50 is non refundable but you wont have to spend $300+ for his replacement...
The number you need to call is 800-584-3666.. Also call sprint directly and let them know that he lost his phone and that you need to temporarily suspend the line so no one can make calls on that phone You should be able to call them tonight up until 9pm EST

Is it better to say your cell phone has been lost/stolen rather than telling Alltel that it is broken?

If you have insurance on the phone, you can get it replaced no problem. They will probably charge you $30-$50 bucks for the deductable, but it's well worth it if you don't have to buy a new phone that could cost $100s.

Call up your insurance company. If you don't know the number call Alltel, they'll be happy to give it to you.

Tell them that your phone is unuseable. The insurance agent will probably ask you what happened. Don't lie... it's not a big issue! They are used to this happening everyday.

They will probably ask for the deductable amount and then will send you a new phone over night and give you instructions and a pre-paid evelope to send your broken one back to them (You'll have to send it back within 30 days, or they will charge you for it). If they don't have one just like yours... they will give you the upgraded model.

Anyways... don't worry about having to lie or sorts - it won't help you any. This is why you have insurance! :)

Good luck!

The IMEI is used to identify the hardware when the phone wants to talk to a mobile carrier network. If a phone is reported stolen, the IMEI can be added to a shared database of stolen devices (the Equipment Identity Register, EIR). Many mobile carriers around the world check received IMEIs against their EIR, and if the phone is stolen, they will refuse to let it register, meaning that you cannot use 3G/4G data, phone or messaging (SMS/MMS) functions. However, non-telco functions like WiFi and Bluetooth are not affected. It’s a basic deterrent to stealing handsets: i.e. the handset cannot work as a phone once it has been reported stolen. However, I understand that not all telcos have or use an EIR, so a stolen phone will still work. Also, there seems to be an unhealthy interest on some Internet forums for tools that can change the IMEI in a phone, which I only imagine is interesting to people who, how can I put this, handle a lot of stolen phones. It is certainly illegal to tamper with the IMEI in the USA and in the United Kingdom. I’m not a legal expert, but I suspect that most developed nations also have laws about this, since changing the IMEI (outside of the manufacturers factory) could only be for criminal purposes.

If you have enabled the lost mode, your phone will lock itself up as soon as connected to a data network or wi-fi. It will then display the message and ask for your your 4 digits pass code or your iCloud credentials in order to unlock it. If you have "Find my iPhone" function on, you can locate and track the device when it is connected to the internet. You can also remotely wipe your phone using the iCloud account, but this means that you will no longer be able to locate it. Keep in mind that as long that you keep the lost device in your iCloud account it can no longer be activated or used. Do not remove it from the acoount. If you do so, the activation lock will be disabled. More info on this: https://support.apple.com/en-us/...But, to strictly answer your question:As long as the phone is offline, it can be used and your data is indeed not safe. However, the moment it will have an internet connection, the phone will lock itself up.  So, no. It cannot be restored and used normally. Who uses a smartphone without internet anyway? Its market value will be very low. It can be sold only on the black market and that to be used for its components, like display, battery, home button, etc. The motherboard is, however, useless.

If my IPhone is stolen can people get into it?

If they have your password? Yes until you go online to iCloud and shut it down as stolen/lost. Then you can also erase it remotely, so even if they didn't shut it off, it will lose all personal data. It requires it to be taken to Apple for a proper reset and then only with your iCloud connection still valid to Apple. (assuming it isn't one of the newer models with the fingerprint sign in. Without the proper fingerprint, no, they can t get in.)

The use of the fingerprint, or password also are only needed if the phone was off when they got it. If not turned off, as long as they don't let it sleep/auto turn off, they can use it and have full access. That's why it is so important to go to iCloud and report it stolen/lost immediately!!

There is no chance that a brand-new, never turned on, sealed iPhone or Apple device of any kind to be tracked. The phone has no data on it, it doesn’t have an Apple ID associated with it. It hasn’t been activated with the carrier, etc. The best thing that can happen if the local law-enforcement places a national-hotsheet on the phone just in case if it is pawned or sold to a pawn shop, unfortunately.
